Location: Delhi HQ

Duration: 2–6 months (flexible with academic schedule)

Benefits: Stipend | Internship Certificate | Pre-Placement Offer Opportunity

Overview

This internship is a hands-on opportunity to join Novasensa’s core R&D team as we pioneer clean, closed-loop technologies to recover critical and high-value metals from lithium-ion batteries and electronic waste. As a Process & Research Engineer Intern, you won’t just assist—you’ll actively contribute to real lab experiments, process development, and data-driven decision-making that directly shape our industrial workflows.

We’re looking for passionate, detail-oriented individuals who love chemistry, thrive in experimental environments, and are eager to solve open-ended problems with scientific rigor. If you're driven by impact, curious about scaling sustainable technologies, and excited to work alongside deep-tech founders and process innovators, this role is built for you.

Who We Are

Novasensa is a frontier deep-tech company transforming how India extracts value from waste. We are developing next-generation hydrometallurgical technologies for sustainable recovery of critical, rare-earth, and high-value metals from lithium-ion batteries and e-waste.

Our proprietary, IP-driven recycling platform achieves near-perfect recovery and purity using carbon-neutral, zero-discharge processes—unlocking true circularity at industrial scale. From lab to field, we combine precision chemistry, systems engineering, and environmental stewardship to build the future of clean energy infrastructure.

This is not just recycling—it’s strategic mineral recovery for national self-reliance.

Who We’re Looking For

We are looking for builder-minds with a scientist’s curiosity:

  • Students or graduates in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, Materials Science, or Chemistry.
  • Hands-on learners who enjoy lab work, chemical processes, and designing experiments.
  • Strong interest in clean energy, sustainability, and deep-tech R&D.
  • Bonus: Familiarity with process modeling tools (e.g., ASPEN, DWSIM), lab instrumentation, or analytical techniques.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills—clarity matters.
If you stay up late reading research papers, obsess over solving process inefficiencies, and dream of building something that matters—you’ll feel at home here.

Why This Internship is Different
  • Deep R&D Exposure: Work directly on cutting-edge hydrometallurgical flowsheets under active development.
  • Scientist Mindset: Solve real-world chemistry problems, not just run simulations or copy SOPs.
  • Mentorship by Founders: Collaborate with Harvard- and Duke-educated founders with U.S. deep-tech and sustainability experience.
  • Intellectual Autonomy: Your ideas, insights, and experimental designs are valued—this is not a back-office internship.
  • Impact: Your work directly supports India’s clean energy mission and circular economy roadmap.

What You'll Work On

As a Process & Research Engineer Intern, you’ll be immersed in high-impact lab and process development work:

🔬 Lab & Process R&D
  • Execute experiments on leaching, solvent extraction, and metal recovery.
  • Support material handling, phase separation, and crystallization techniques.
  • Analyze recovery yield, purity, and phase behavior—learn to debug and optimize in real time.

📊 Data, Documentation & Analysis
  • Maintain experimental records with scientific rigor.
  • Help draft SOPs, process flow summaries, and internal knowledge memos.
  • Present findings to R&D leadership and contribute to design iterations.

🧠 Innovation, Research & Collaboration
  • Participate in technical deep-dives, brainstorming, and troubleshooting with the founding and R&D teams.
  • Review latest journals and patents in battery recycling and hydrometallurgy.
  • Contribute process ideas, flow modifications, or reagent optimizations.

📈 Tech + Market Research (Supportive Work)
  • Research suppliers, chemicals, and lab equipment options.
  • Support procurement analysis and vendor benchmarking as needed.

What Past Interns Say“I learned more in 8 weeks at Novasensa than in an entire semester. The team gave me real lab responsibility, the problems were open-ended, and the vision was inspiring. It felt like working at the cutting edge of science and sustainability.” Ravi, IIT Madras
Application Deadline: Rolling basis – early applications will be prioritized.

Let’s turn waste into value—and science into impact.
