Summary: Works with Program Director by coordinating program activities, maintaining records control and database systems in coordination with the AmeriCorps (formally CNCS). The Foster Grandparent Program Coordinator is responsible for all the recruitment and data collection functions of the FGP program to include; volunteer recruitment, volunteer/site retention, volunteer orientation, volunteer recognition and data reporting.

Position Responsibilities

  • *Recruiting volunteers 55 years and older for the AmeriCorps Seniors FGP program by facilitating recruitment presentations, engaging in senior oriented networking events, and contacting community agencies for support
  • *Ensures volunteer assignments are consistent with the interests and abilities of the senior volunteers as well comply with the requirements of the of the AmeriCorps Seniors FGP grant guidelines
  • *Resolves disputes and/or concerns between FGP volunteers and FGP stations managers under the direction of the FGP Director
  • *Performs and prepares MOUs, assignment plans and evaluations for stations
  • *Collect and accurately calculate biweekly Foster Grandparent timesheets to determine the stipend and mileage reimbursements. Enters stipends into Intacct and spreadsheet twice a month.
  • Prepares and maintains updated volunteer and station files
  • Performs background and criminal history checks in accordance with grantor standards
  • Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information.
  • Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral is mandatory.
  • Must be sensitive to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ years related work experience
  • Experience in networking, community engagement or volunteer recruitment
  • Experience in community outreach or senior services preferred
  • Spanish speaking required
  • Reliable transportation
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

Minimum Knowledge And Skills

  • Strong written, verbal, listening, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail,
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)
  • Ability to learn reporting systems
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to work without close supervision and follow through to completion of assigned tasks
  • Must cooperate as a team member
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet multiple deadlines
  • Must handle pressure well
