ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Process Engineering/Metallurgy Write and update process planning procedures (Detailed Forge Instructions), work instructions, and checklists, based on metallurgy requirements as listed in Dwg, PO, and specifications. Participate in the definition of test requirements, justification of acceptance limits, and sampling plans to assure compliance with requirements. Work with production personnel and Process control team to implement new processes and ensure proper information is collected to develop capable and repeatable processes. Address and disposition nonconformities related to process and metallurgy (ie: test failures, develop HT studies and determine steps to be taken to bring product into conformance as required). Work with Quality to Investigate problems, determine root cause(s), gather and analyze data, and implement corrective action(s) to eliminate causes and their recurrence. Review regular process/testing data and prepare statistical and operational performance reports as it relates to process performance. Use charts and statistics to analyze results and prepare reports to present findings. Monitor adherence to quality standards in the development and implementation of processes. Facilitate continuous improvement through training and communication of quality initiatives. Evaluate and review products and processes and provide status reporting to Quality Department Head. Record, coordinate with relevant employee(s) and ensure that actions are taken to resolve identified nonconformances relating to processes and testing. Assist in the management of quality management system and its related activities. Assist in planning and estimating activities. Oversee the quality of the planning output. Review and approve planned jobs. Review customer purchase orders and associated documents for technical requirements. Coordinate changes to fixed processes internally and obtain customer approval, as applicable.
KNOWLEDGE Knowledge in Production processes, procedures, and techniques to ensure proper product realization. Knowledge in Metallurgy principles, procedures, specifications to ensure processes developed yield conforming metallurgical results to applicable specifications and requirements. Knowledge in management principles to manage resources and processes. Involved in strategic planning, strategy deployment, operations management, budget setting, risk management, resource allocation, and talent mentoring. Knowledge in identifying customer requirements to flow them down internally and to suppliers. Knowledge in general mathematical principles, techniques, and practices relevant to calculation, measurement, data collection, and statistical analysis. Knowledge in root cause analysis tools, techniques and practices. Knowledge in statistical process control tools. Knowledge in general computer applications applicable to the job.
