Position Overview:
The Food & Nutrition Program Coordinator supports the implementation of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Food and Nutrition Project by overseeing vendor operations, monitoring performance, and helping expand service capacity.
This role ensures vendors meet key deliverables, comply with program requirements, and effectively serve high-need communities across Harris County. The Coordinator also manages reporting, budgeting, and partner communications to support successful project outcomes.
Duties & Responsibilities:
* Oversee day-to-day operations and performance of awarded food and nutrition vendors to ensure project success and client impact.
* Monitor and report on vendor progress toward contractual deliverables, KPIs, and milestones.
* Manage budgets, invoices, and financial documentation in coordination with the HCPH finance and grant teams.
* Provide technical assistance and guidance to vendors to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local funding requirements.
* Support vendors in implementing strategies to expand their service capacity and reach underserved communities.
* Develop and maintain systems to track and evaluate service capacity growth, client reach, and operational improvements.
* Prepare clear and concise reports and presentations for HCPH leadership, county stakeholders, and community partners.
* Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and vendor outcomes. Collaborate with internal and external partners to align vendor activities with countywide food access and nutrition goals.

Requirements
Education:
* Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Public Administration, Social Work, Nutrition, Business, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
Experience:
* One (1) year of relevant experience in program coordination, public engagement, vendor or partner communications, administrative support, or project/event management.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public-facing communication and reporting.

General Information
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:
* Full Time | Grant-funded.
* Must be willing to flex work hours when required, including weekends.
* Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
* Expected to travel within Harris County jurisdiction.
Work Environment:
* This job operates in a professional office environment with occasional vendor site visits. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Physical Demands:
* This is a largely sedentary role; however, some duties would require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds and bending & standing for periods at a time.
Work Location:
* 1111 Fannin Street, Houston TX 77002.
Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
