To strengthen our CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) Modelling team and to leverage interactions within the Ghlin R&D Center of Excellence, we are looking for a Flow Simulation Specialist.
As a Flow Simulation Specialist, you will effectively conduct numerical and physical R&D simulations for the development and accommodation of Vesuvius products. The job includes the planning, preparation, execution and presentation of Research activities to support Development CFD activities e.g. for the simulation of fluid flows in continuous caster tundishes and moulds in order to develop products for these applications and for adaptation according to customer requirements.
Scope
Conducting Fundamental Research numerical flow simulations
Planning physical flow simulations using the watermodel in Vesuvius SZ
Utilisation of other Vesuvius facilities
Key Tasks
Collect of the customer needs (acquisition of project relevant data)
Improve and adapt methods
Execute the CFD numerical and test action plan
Create guidelines regarding CFD best practices
Create and maintain training documents
Make analysis of the measurements and simulation results
Interact and align objectives with R&D VISO, SGR, AR and Flux Departments
Visit customer e.g. for data acquisition and verification
Literature search to support job related tasks (e.g. improvement of methods, introduction of new methods)
Jointly perform complex tasks with other Vesuvius sites
Requirements
Education background as an Engineer/PhD in Mechanical, Material Sciences, Mechatronics or similar
At least 5-10 years of successful experience in a similar role
Fluency in spoken and written English
Usage of standard software
Experience in the field of numerical flow simulation especially with the software packages FLUENT and/or OpenFOAM
Basic knowledge of fluid dynamics
Good familiarity with CAD application
Self directed problem solving
Continuous improvement and optimisation of processes mindset
