About the role, Your Impact
Baxter & Woodman (B&W) has a rewarding opportunity for a fleet management professional. B&W currently runs a fleet of over 60 vehicles. This number is expected to increase as the company continues to grow. Vehicles are an essential tool to enable B&W to earn its revenue. They must be well maintained and experience minimal downtime. They must remain physically appealing to support positive brand recognition. Lastly, fleet vehicles must be operated safely at all times to ensure the wellbeing of the public and our staff. The fleet manager oversees all of these objectives and more. The ideal candidate will be well versed in automotive concepts as well as being able to interact well with fleet drivers. They will be able to make good judgment calls that protect the interests of the company while maintaining an exceptional fleet of vehicles.
What your day-to-day will look like
* Ordering: Coordinate with Enterprise Fleet Management to determine which vehicles need replacement. Budget for those vehicles during firm-wide budgeting process. Place the order and coordinate vehicle delivery.
* Upfitting: Work with drivers and B&W leadership to build templates for vehicle upfit (lighting/graphics/accessories/etc.). Ensure the vehicles are ordered and delivered with the correct upfit. Ensure the upfit costs are reasonable before approving orders.
* Maintenance: Ensure that all vehicles are receiving proper maintenance on the correct schedule at the correct service centers. Enterprise fleet portal assists with this.
* Repairs: Provide guidance to drivers when vehicles are malfunctioning and work with service centers to get repairs performed as cost effectively and quickly as possible.
* Ensure internal procedures are followed: Drivers need to be approved to drive fleet vehicles and must use an app to track their mileage. They need to have working telematics devices in the vehicles in order to drive them. There are protocols for checking out a pool vehicle. Fleet manager oversees all of these things.
* Coordinate vehicle exchanges and downtime: Often times different vehicles need to be taken out of commission and vehicles need to be exchanged to meet the needs of drivers. Fleet manager sorts out the needs of all parties and ensures they have adequate transportation to perform their job.
* Monitor vehicle safety: B&W maintains safety standards and metrics for vehicles and enables the fleet manager to detect dangerous driving. Monitor these tools and work with HR if problems are found. Coordinate complaints (if they occur) from the public about our drivers.
* Assist with insurance claims if required: If damages to vehicles or property occurs, the fleet manager will need to interact with other leaders in B&W to properly involve insurance in managing claims.
* Oversee Tolls across various States: Ensure the toll transponders are properly managed and in the correct vehicles. Ensure toll bills are getting properly routed and paid.
* Oversee the Companys Car Rental program
* Position may be asked to assist other service departments with a variety of small tasks as needed when the fleet management schedule allows.
Must-haves, what you will bring
* Demonstrated ability to manage a complex system end to end.
* Automotive experience a plus.
* Fleet management experience a plus but not required.
* Strong ability to grasp the financials of fleet management and understand the business impact of the fleet program.
* Excellent interpersonal communication skills required. A significant portion of this position is helping end users with problems.
* Ability to work and problem solve independently.
* Ability to listen effectively, take direction, and seek clarification when needed.
* Ability to travel throughout Baxter & Woodmans service area, potentially including states other than Illinois. Currently this includes Texas and Florida but may expand to other states in the future.
Compensation -The pay range for this role is $27.00 - $35.00 per hour. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
