About This Vacancy
We are seeking a Firmware Test Engineer to join our Industrial Automation R&D team in Andover, MA. In this role, you will be responsible for testing and evaluating firmware to ensure the quality and reliability of software integrated into electronic hardware systems. These systems involve Ethernet communication protocols, 5G/WiFi technologies, and IoT-enabled solutions within the industrial sector.
This position requires hands-on scripting, automation, and collaboration across multiple applications and projects. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, effectively juggling multiple assignments while maintaining a high standard of quality.
Develop and execute automated and manual test scripts using frameworks like Robot Framework
Identify, track, and resolve software defects; collaborate with developers to drive improvements
Maintain and enhance automation tools to support efficient testing
Support CI/CD processes, including automation, tool integration, and maintenance
Document test plans, reports, and technical guides
Debug and troubleshoot hardware/software issues to ensure system performance
Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning and test-driven development
Contribute to innovation initiatives and process improvements
Clearly communicate technical concepts and findings to cross-functional teams
What We Expect From You
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
3 years of experience in embedded firmware and/or 5G/WiFi testing
Strong knowledge of unit, functional, regression, performance, compatibility, and system testing
Proficiency in Python programming, Linux testing, and debugging in embedded environments
Familiarity with C/C++ is a plus
Experience with Robot Framework and embedded operating systems such as FreeRTOS, Zephyr, Embedded Linux, or VxWorks
Understanding of industrial networking and communication protocols (e.g., OSI model, 5G, WiFi)
Familiarity with cryptographic concepts and cybersecurity features like certificate management and PKI
Proficient with Git, GitHub, Wireshark, and Agile tools
Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and the full SDLC
