Summary

Well-established real estate law firm is seeking a managing director to oversee the firm's operations, manage efficiencies and spearhead strategic initiatives. This role is located in Oakland, California with a hybrid schedule. You will collaborate with Human Resources, Accounting, and Information Technology departments on different projects, managing solutions, and driving growth.


Responsibilities:

  • Firm General Management: Oversees the firm's strategic direction, daily operations, and performance, including HR, finance, facilities, and IT, while advising the Management Committee for resource allocation and problem-solving.
  • Administrative Team Supervision: Manages and mentors administrative staff, coordinates hiring, training, evaluations, scheduling, and ensures adequate personnel coverage while optimizing operations.
  • People Management & Firm Culture: Motivates staff and attorneys, fosters a productive environment, and champions firm culture through events, activities, and optimized workflows.
  • Strategic Thinking & Planning: Leads the firm’s strategic planning and policy initiatives to align growth with long-term goals, addressing anticipated trends and competitiveness.
  • Financial Planning: Collaborates on budgeting, financial stability monitoring, and planning to sustain firm performance and growth.
  • Operations & Facility Management: Supervises the day-to-day operations across office locations, ensures safety compliance, plans expansions, and innovates hybrid work environments.
  • Governance Coordination: Facilitates management, finance, and partner meetings, ensuring follow-up on critical action items and effective firm governance.
  • Technology Management: Supports technology strategies, legal software implementation, hardware upgrades, and operational advancements in coordination with the Technology Team.
  • Project & Vendor Management: Oversees vendor contracts, office purchases, equipment, and maintenance to ensure cost-efficient and quality services.
  • Risk & Compliance Management: Develops policies for legal compliance, risk containment, insurance coverage, and physical/cybersecurity operations.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years' of experience in a management role, law firm preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree.
