Financial Controller
Financial Control warrants the reliability of Action’s internal financial information and Action’s compliance with external reporting requirements in the countries of operations.
The Financial Controller is responsible for internal and external group reporting. The overall role of this position is to support the continued rapid (international) growth of Action in a manner that safeguards the financial integrity of our reporting and manages the key risk elements of the company’s growth.
Areas of responsibility
Internal and external group reporting
Manages and coordinates the preparation and development of on time, accurate and complete periodic (and quarterly) management reporting (Action Financials), bank reporting, shareholder reporting
Maintains and communicates reporting calendar
Consolidates business (control) input for reporting to make sure the right management information and reporting is available
Financial control
Performs (quarterly) balance sheet reviews
Reports on observations from balance sheet reviews to the finance management team
Monitors and provides guidance on the use of leading ledger vs non-leading ledger
Maintains chart of accounts and reviews proposed creation of new accounts
Supports the preparation of forecasts, budgets and strategic plans (mainly in relation to: interest, depreciation, tax, hedges, cci)
Sets up processes and controls for new initiatives and new countries together with other Financial Services departments, project management teams, tax and country representatives
(Group) audit
Manages and coordinates the audit (overall project management)
Collaborates and organizes with external auditors and internal stakeholders (internal audit)
Involves and provides guidance to Financial Services, country and controlling departments relating to expectations for prepared-by-client delivery
Shares knowledge and better practices through workshop and feedback
Manages and coordinates special purpose audits
(Technical) accounting
Maintains accounting manual
Prepares technical topic position papers
Analyzes impact of new developments in IFRS
Provides guidance to Financial Services and controlling on application of accounting manual
Develops and accounts for complex accounting topics (IFRS 16, Hedge/derivatives)
Period end closing
Manages and coordinates period end closing timeline together with team leads Financial Services
Manages and coordinate consolidation of entities in HFM
Manages and coordinate group Balance sheet and Cash flow statement
Prepares / reviews group reconciliations (i.e. exceptional, cash, equity, LTI)
Compliance (tax, local law, reporting)
Manages and coordinates group tax fillings with group tax team
Monitors transfer pricing execution
Monitors and prepare for developments such as ESG reporting requirements
Ensures on time group reporting to statistical agencies (DNB, CBS)
Manages local tax and accounting advisors
Internal controls
Reviews the processes and strengthen internal controls and make recommendations for improvement in close collaboration with the Risk Management department
Ensures on time execution of control self-assessments by business partners
Ensures on time follow up on actions regarding Internal Audit report by business partners
Projects
Defines, plans, manages, and executes assigned finance-related projects, within the project management guidelines
Participates in local and/or international (improvement) projects to implement new (financial) systems, procedures and processes
Drives ESG data and reporting projects throughout the organization
Requirements
University Masters degree economics/ business or Bachelors degree finance/business
Relevant work experience in financial environment
An informing role in relation to an operational financial reporting
Project management: project participation, can execute own task
Understanding of business area
