We have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join our team in Toronto. This role will work closely with other accounting groups, (Retail Finance, Fixed assets, Revenue) and business departments (IT, Technical Network, Sales and Marketing, etc.) to ensure all expenses and other entries are accurately recorded. They will take on the responsibility of working with all departments to ensure their open purchase orders are up to date and valid. This role will also assist with the month-end and year-end close by ensuring all task are completed in a timely manner.
A typical day
Reviews, analyzes and reconciles GL accounts, including, prepaid, accrual and sales tax accounts
Reviews, analyzes and identifies month end accruals and investigate variances
File monthly sales tax returns and other related regulatory filings
Work with internal business partners on routine basis to provide support and to understand business transactions to ensure that they are being recorded correctly and accurately
Perform regular reviews of all open purchase orders and work with internal business departments to ensure accuracy
Support and coordinate month end and year end close process
Assist in coordinating year-end audits, monthly reports, analysis
Help train and assist junior accountants
Support the integrity of GL by ensuring best practices policies are implemented and followed in accordance with IFRS
Ensure compliance with the Company's accounting policies and procedures
Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting policies and procedures.

Qualifications
3-5 years of experience in the field of Accounting with an Accounting degree from a recognized University or relevant experience
Good analytical ability and problem solving skills with excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent communication in English, both written and verbal
A dynamic and pro-active individual with a sense of urgency for resolution and ability to execute
Solution oriented individual with a strong sense of ownership, able to make decisions and recommendations
Self-starter with high standards of performance and a strong desire to learn
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and Excellent skills on Microsoft Office
Applications (Word, Access, PowerPoint)
Experience with Oracle is a plus
Understanding of the AP and AR processes
IFRS knowledge is an asset
CPA or working towards designation is an asset
