Compensation:
The compensation range for this role is $90,000-$95,000 annually, depending on experience.
Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare and analyze monthly and annual financial statements (e.g., balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement) in accordance with GAAP or other relevant accounting standards.
- Develop and maintain detailed supporting schedules and workpapers for all financial statement balances.
- Perform budget-to-actual variance analysis, investigating and explaining significant deviations to provide insightful commentary to management.
- Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
- Month-End Close:
- Execute the monthly close process, including journal entry preparation and posting, account reconciliations (e.g., bank, intercompany, accruals), and ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Investigate and resolve any discrepancies identified during the close process.
- Payroll and Commissions:
- Manage the accurate and timely processing of payroll, including all related deductions, benefits, and tax withholdings.
- Calculate and process monthly sales commissions in accordance with established plans, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and prepare related reports.
- Tax Compliance:
- Prepare and file sales and use tax returns in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.
- Assist with the preparation of other tax-related filings and ensure timely submission.
- Stay updated on relevant tax laws and regulations.
- Treasury and Accounts Payable Support:
- Assist with treasury management functions, including bank reconciliations and cash flow monitoring.
- Support the accounts payable process by reviewing invoices, preparing payments, and resolving vendor inquiries as needed.
- Accounts Receivable:
- Manage accounts receivable transactions, including accurate and timely invoicing, cash receipts processing, and monitoring of outstanding balances.
- Follow up on past-due accounts and implement collection procedures.
- Prepare accounts receivable aging reports and provide analysis to management.
- Budgeting and Forecasting Support:
- Provide support in the preparation of the annual budget and periodic forecasts.
- Assist in monitoring budget performance and providing analysis of variances.
- Audit Support:
- Prepare schedules and provide documentation to support internal and external audits.
- Assist in responding to auditor inquiries and implementing audit recommendations.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
- Participate in the implementation of new accounting systems or software upgrades.
- Other Duties:
- Perform other accounting, financial, and administrative tasks as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. Equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
- 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or relevant accounting standards.
- Familiarity with tax regulations, including sales and use tax.
- Experience with payroll processing and commission calculations.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP) and Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with colleagues, vendors, and auditors.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Start-up experience is a plus.
