Summary

The Role Pilot is building a first-of-its-kind, hybrid software/service solution to tackle the financial back office (bookkeeping, tax, CFO, etc.) so that founders and business owners can focus on building and running their businesses. We work with thousands of startup and small business customers, and we are growing rapidly. Controllers on our Finance Operations team are responsible for managing the quality of their portfolios. You'll work with a team of Account Managers to ensure that the work we deliver to customers meets our high standards. Key Responsibilities * Manage a team of Controllers, who are each responsible for reviewing customer monthly close deliverables, ensuring each set of books meets our bar for quality * Prioritize work, initiatives, and projects for your team, juggling customer deadlines and expectations in a fast-paced, collaborative environment * Own the knowledge and output of your team and be a technical backstop for the organization * Collaborate cross-functionally with other Operations leaders to ensure a cohesive customer experience and helping your team build strong relationships across other Ops functions About You Our ideal candidate is a highly motivated self-starter and who possesses all of the following: * B.S. or M.S. in Accounting or equivalent. CPA preferred but not required. * 8+ years of experience consisting of public, private, or outsourced accounting required, especially with venture backed start-ups * People management experience required * Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey complex and accounting concepts to clients and senior leaders * Preferred: Experience working in a service delivery model or organization, experience completing financial consolidation and engaging with external auditors, exposure to M&A activity About Pilot Pilot launched in 2017 to bring the back office into the modern era. Final offer amounts depend on multiple factors such as candidate experience and expertise, geographic location, total compensation, and market data. In addition to cash pay, full-time regular positions are eligible for equity, 401(k), health benefits, and other benefits; some of these benefits may be available for part-time or temporary positions.
