Position Description
The Finance Manager, Operations Finance (Data Analytics) will be the lead role responsible for understanding, analyzing, and enhancing cost visibility on the following key elements: warehousing, pallets, and sustainability, while supporting stock movement, aged inventories, and transfer freight. This role will actively support the management of cost reduction initiatives, leveraging advanced analytics for month-end close activities, reporting financial & non-financial performance, forecasting and budgeting, and inventory control processes. This position will partner with a variety of people within the business unit, inclusive of Supply Chain Operations, Procurement, Operations Finance, Leasing, Commercial Finance, Accounting, and FP&A. This role provides opportunities to work in a dynamic and results-driven work environment, to build relationships with cross functional teams, and showcase creative and strategic solutions utilizing advanced analytical tools. The Finance Manager will partner with all levels of management to perform, adhoc analysis for cost down initiatives to support data driven decision making.
Essential Functions:
- Lead cost visibility reporting in the following areas: warehousing & inventory (including storage, pallets, stock movement, transfer freight, aged inventories).
- Lead annual budget, weekly forecast, and detailed variance analysis for select cost elements.
- Lead implementation of advanced analytics to drive forecast accuracy of weekly, monthly, & annual forecasts.
- Partner with the Commercial Finance team for ongoing cost analysis to ensure best efforts to recoup warehousing costs.
- Develop, validate, monitor, and facilitate communication of key performance indicators by Collaborating with Supply Chain Finance, Operations Finance, and Procurement.
- Lead business process automation of ongoing analytical & reporting routines.
- Lead ongoing routines to validate, track, and report on warehousing cost, pallet inventory, sustainability utilities & waste.
- Lead continuous improvement in all key accountabilities.
- Lead standardization of consumption data consolidation & reporting for sustainability and weekly forecasts.
- Lead development, storage, and management of Standard Operating Procedures.
- Partner with the Plant Operations team and other various cross functional departments to assess warehousing and transfer freight costs, as well as supply chain/operational constraints and opportunities.
- Support IS project prioritization acting as liaison for Supply Chain Finance to develop integrated system for Forecast & Budget.
- Support standardization and communication/training of best practices with broader team.
- Support specialized projects: Plant P&L Automation (understanding of complex underlying logic), Annual Operating Plan (elimination of consolidation, cross checks, manual work), Gross Margin Analytics (costs, volume, mix, gross margin), OEE analytics tied to costs for KPI development.
- Support the Supply Chain Finance planning process for budget and forecast on select cost elements.
- Partner with Cost Accounting to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
- Support onboarding of new members, month end activities (accruals, journal entries, account reconciliations) and annual inventory control processes, including inventory roll forwards, physical counts, and ongoing plant assessments
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor of Sciences degree. Finance, Accounting, & Economics preferred. Finance or Accounting accreditation preferred but not required (e.g. CFA, CA, CPA)
- Data Analytics certifications preferred but not required (eg. MS PowerBI Data Analyst)
- 5 years of relevant work experience (analysis, reporting, costing) in Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain, or related field. CPG, Supply Chain, and/or Data Analytics experience preferred.
Skills/Qualifications/Core Competencies:
- This position will need to utilize SAP, PowerBI, and Excel to navigate through large data sets and summarize findings into a management level communication
- Experience developing & maintaining database in analytical tools (e.g. Power BI, Alteryx, Tableau), Power BI is preferred
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g. DAX, SQL, Visual Basic), DAX is preferred
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills; proficiency working in Excel and PowerPoint is required
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with emphasis on build working relationships and conflict resolution with clients, peers, and management
- Ability to work as a strong team player across multiple functions and work independently Ability to provide fact-based recommendations across various levels of management to support data driven decision making
- Strong time management skills, task prioritization, flexibility, and attention to detail
- Ability to balance multiple tasks with changing priorities, work in a fast-paced environment, concisely summarize ideas, and provide solutions while considering the upstream and downstream impact to stakeholders.
- Ideal candidates should be process driven, logical thinker, embrace a growth mindset, focused on continuous improvement, preferably with a background in manufacturing.
