Summary
The Finance Coordinator for Student Organizations, reporting to the Senior Budget Analyst, supports the financial operations of student organizations funded by the Student Activity Fee (SAF). This role develops and delivers finance training, manages policies and procedures, ensures accurate financial reporting, and processes financial transactions.
Key responsibilities include approving and reconciling purchases, providing finance education to student leaders and advisors, supervising one full-time purchasing staff member, and maintaining compliance with university policies. The Coordinator is critical in supporting student engagement while promoting strong fiscal stewardship within the Division of Student Affairs.
Typical Duties
Reporting to the Senior Budget Analyst, the Finance Coordinator for Student Organizations develops, implements, and maintains comprehensive finance training and education programs for student organizations funded by the Student Activity Fee (SAF). This position is critical to supporting student organizations' financial health by ensuring compliance with university and divisional policies and maintaining accurate financial systems and reporting.
The Finance Coordinator supports the Division of Student Affairs' fiscal and budgetary operations by performing procurement functions, vendor management, journal entries in Banner Finance, purchasing, serving as program lead for a student declining balance card program, and reconciling multiple indexes. This role also supervises the day-to-day purchasing activities of one full-time employee (FTE). The Finance Coordinator contributes to goal-focused, data-driven budget management, directly supporting the Associate Vice President for Finance and Innovation.
