Summary

About the Role:

We are looking for energetic, detail-oriented individuals to join our team as Field Test Engineers for a leading telecom company. This is a hands-on, field-based role ideal for recent engineering graduates or tech-savvy individuals who are comfortable working with hardware/software kits and spending the day driving through different parts of California, including national parks and remote areas.

  • Key Responsibilities:Perform daily setup and verification of testing hardware and software.
  • Drive designated routes (up to 8 hours/day) to collect wireless network performance data.
  • Follow voice prompts and instructions from the drive testing tool during the test.
  • Monitor equipment during testing to ensure optimal operation.
  • Perform post-drive tasks: wrap up testing session, generate reports, and upload logs.
  • Conduct equipment checks and report any issues or anomalies.
  • Communicate daily status updates and escalate issues when needed.

Typical Daily Workflow:Pre-Drive Setup:

  • Complete hardware checklist (modems, scanners, cables, antennas, power sources, etc.)
  • Configure software and testing tools on the laptop
  • Install and secure the testing kit in the vehicle
  • Perform end-to-end test to confirm readiness

Drive Test Execution:

  • Start drive and follow assigned route
  • Listen and respond to voice prompts from the tool
  • Log relevant events or anomalies during the test

Post-Drive Wrap-up:

  • End the test, generate a summary report
  • Upload logs and data to centralized systems
  • Ensure all equipment is safely packed and ready for the next day
  • Qualifications:Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer, or related fields)
  • Comfortable with computers, test equipment, and in-vehicle setups
  • Familiarity with basic hardware/software troubleshooting
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
  • Must hold a valid driver's license and be comfortable with long-distance driving
  • Ability to work independently in the field
  • Nice to Have:Prior experience in telecom field testing or RF drive testing
  • Familiarity with Android/iOS-based drive test tools (e.g., TEMS, Nemo, G-NetTrack, or similar)
  • Basic knowledge of wireless communication technologies (LTE, 5G, etc.)
  • Additional Details:All necessary equipment and vehicle will be provided.
  • Training on the testing tools and process will be offered.
