Job Description
We are seeking a hands-on, resourceful, and detail-oriented Field Technician & Robot Operator to support the deployment, maintenance, and operation of our advanced robotic systems in real-world environments. You will play a critical role in ensuring successful robot deployments at customer sites, field tests, and live demonstrations. As a Field Technician, you will be responsible not only for preparing and maintaining the robotic platforms but also for representing our company in the field, adapting to unexpected challenges, and directly supporting customer missions with professionalism and technical expertise. When on shift as a Robot Operator, you will operate advanced robotic systems remotely from our control center in Zurich Oerlikon, ensuring smooth mission execution and performance monitoring. For this position, we can unfortunately only accept applications from citizens of Schengen Area countries.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Deployment Setup and Field Support: Assemble, configure, and deploy robotic systems at customer sites and field locations, ensuring readiness and compliance with operational requirements.
- On-site Troubleshooting and First Response: Independently diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and software issues in the field, often under time pressure and changing conditions.
- Customer Interaction and Reporting: Serve as the technical point of contact for customers during field operations, providing clear communication, professional support, and post-mission reporting to internal teams.
- Remote Robot Operation: Use advanced control systems to operate robots in remote locations, including customer sites, test environments, or field deployments.
- Scenario Execution: Execute pre-defined tasks, missions, or operations using remote robotic systems while adhering to project requirements.
- Data Collection and Reporting: Collect operational data, monitor system logs, and provide insights to engineering teams for system refinement
What You Must Have
- Degree or apprenticeship in mechatronics, robotics, or equivalent.
- Proven ability to work independently in the field, diagnose problems under pressure, and perform quick, effective repairs without immediate supervision.
- Ability to follow structured procedures, deployment checklists, safety protocols, and quality standards even in dynamic environments.
- Comfortable interacting directly with consumers, customers, or third-parties on-site, representing the company professionally during deployments or support missions.
- Willingness and ability to travel to field locations - sometimes on short notice.Interest in both maintaining and operating robotics systems.
- Working proficiency in English
