This role is crucial for capturing the field-level details needed to bring FTTH and high-capacity services to dense urban and suburban environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform field surveys for telecom fiber builds, capturing entry points, conduit paths, equipment locations, and riser routing for MDU/MXU properties.
  • Prepare accurate, detailed field notes and sketches derived from building layouts and on-site conditions.
  • Work closely with design and construction teams to gather the data needed to develop accurate and constructible fiber routes.
  • Access various types of properties, communicate with building managers, and coordinate entry to complete surveys.
  • Follow established technical standards and local build practices to inform future FTTH designs.
  • Create schematics or redlines immediately after surveys to guide designers and permitting.
  • Travel daily to job sites—this role is 90–100% in the field.

Required Skills And Qualifications

  • Prior experience in telecom, FTTH/HFC field surveys, construction coordination, or utility infrastructure work is ideal.
  • Must understand fiber routing principles and typical MDU/MXU build constraints (e.g., risers, IDFs, MPOEs, etc.).
  • Ability to read and understand telecom and construction drawings.
  • Comfortable using tools like Google Earth, Google Maps, and Microsoft Office products.
  • Knowledge of MS Visio preferred but not required.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience with ikeGPS or other digital survey tools is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and insurance, with a willingness to travel to job sites (mileage reimbursement available).
  • Ability to work occasional overtime to meet project demands.

Work Environment

This role requires a combination of office and fieldwork. You will spend a minimum of three days a week at PRG or client offices, but you will be required to travel daily to construction sites. The role involves extensive walking, climbing stairs, and performing physical tasks in various weather conditions.
