PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Positively impact the efficient operation of routines and practices associated with a busy food service operation and smoothly-run office.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
Special Knowledge and Skills
Accurate typing and ten-key skills, familiarity with computer applications such as spreadsheets and word processing.
Knowledge and use of commercial food service equipment.
Follow written and/or oral directions and to exercise good judgment
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Work Conditions:
Tools/Equipment Used: Standard equipment of a school cafeteria kitchen, computer/keyboard, ten key
Posture: Sitting, kneeling, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; prolonged standing
Motion: Full range of motion- frequent exertion of medium force, occasional of heavy force; repetitive motions
Lifting: Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
Environment: Ability to respond to tasks and/or behaviors quickly; acute or corrected vision and hearing; exposure to cold up to 15 minutes; exposure to heat long periods of time; high volume of noise; exposure to chemical fumes and cooking odors and vapors; in district travel required
Mental: Maintain professional demeanor under stress; respond to tasks quickly; work initiative
Regular attendance is an essential function
Minimum Experience:
Three or more years in school system nutrition or five years' experience in general nutritional and food service responsibilities.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
* Operate a DOS based computer system (Dell) running MS Windows, MS Word, and Excel.
* Coordinate with Training Manager and Supervisors to develop, facilitate and conduct hands-on foodservice manager and employee training programs, onsite training for foodservice managers and employees in all aspects of the food service operation, including one-on-one training when needed, to ensure that standards are met in accordance with TDA, AISD, and Chartwells regulations.
* Be knowledgeable of policies, procedures and daily operations of all positions in all foodservice production locations including the main cafeterias, coffee shops, bakery and food truck.
* Effectively preplan work week based on business needs.
* Follow HACCP and review the most recent health inspections.
* Use and train in use of all protective equipment required or recommended including but not limited to: sanitary gloves, protective gloves, non-skid shoes, safety glasses, hot pads, arm protectors, nuisance masks, aprons, hair nets.
* Observe and train staff to work efficiently.
* Develop and implement action plans for underperforming kitchen operations.
* Make recommendations about school food service facilities and equipment.
* Keep training material updated as needed.
* Review training records to ensure that all employees have signed documentation of training.
* Maintain a positive work atmosphere by modeling effective communication skills in a manner that promotes positive relationships with customers, clients, co-workers, and supervisors.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
