We're looking for a highly capable and customer-focused
Field Support Engineer to provide expert technical support and advisory services to key clients under contractual support agreements.
This role offers a unique opportunity to become a trusted advisor, ensuring our clients receive outstanding service and support across their critical communications networks. You'll work directly with customers to troubleshoot, test, and optimise radio communications systems and software, helping ensure top performance and reliability in the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Advisory: Build strong technical relationships, provide strategic advice, and support the rollout of software and system upgrades through regular on-site engagement.
- Verification & Validation: Test and evaluate network and terminal components to ensure quality, performance, and integration with customer systems.
- Documentation: Accurately document issues, investigations, and resolutions; produce clear technical communications and follow formal incident and problem management processes.
- Issue Resolution: Lead the resolution of technical issues by coordinating with internal teams, tracking open items, and keeping customers informed throughout the process.
- Profile Management: Manage and review radio system configurations, develop test plans, and oversee updates through structured change management procedures.
About You
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Engineering degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
- At least 3 years' experience in ICT or wireless communications.
- Practical knowledge of P25, DMR, and analogue radio systems, including RF design, installation, and support.
- Experience working with Land Mobile Radio equipment, simulcast systems, trunking, and LTE technologies.
- Familiarity with ITIL Service Management principles.
Preferred Skills
- Strong understanding of radio terminal programming and configuration.
- Basic scripting or software experience (e.g. UNIX, Python).
- Excellent troubleshooting, time management, and communication skills.
- A customer-first attitude and willingness to go the extra mile.
