Summary

Job Title: Field Service Engineer Work Location: Charlotte, NC Pay: up to $45/hour pending experience. About the Role: We're looking for a Field Service Security Engineer with strong technical acumen, hands-on field experience, and a passion for physical security systems. In this role, you'll be responsible for deploying, configuring, and maintaining security access control systems-primarily focused on Openpath-across various client sites. Ideal candidates will bring a mix of on-site technical support, system integrations, and software programming skills to ensure seamless installations and ongoing reliability. Key Responsibilities: * Install, configure, and support Openpath access control systems, including readers, controllers, and cloud interfaces. * Program and troubleshoot custom integrations using APIs, webhooks, and scripts (e.g., Python, JavaScript). * Conduct site surveys and collaborate with clients to design physical security solutions tailored to their needs. * Provide on-site and remote technical support, testing, and diagnostics for deployed systems. * Maintain accurate documentation of installations, configurations, and service calls. * Collaborate with internal engineering teams and 3rd-party vendors for complex integrations or escalations. * Ensure compliance with security standards and best practices. * Train end-users and client IT teams on Openpath system usage and administration. Required Qualifications: * 2-5 years experience in a field service or physical security engineering role. * Hands-on experience installing and supporting Openpath systems. * Proficient in scripting or programming languages (Python, JavaScript, or similar). * Comfortable working with cloud-based systems, APIs, and network configurations. * Solid understanding of low-voltage wiring, door hardware, and access control principles. * Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. * Excellent communication and customer-facing skills. * Ability to travel locally or regionally as needed (valid driver's license required). Preferred Qualifications: * Experience with other access control platforms (e.g., Avigilon, Lenel, Brivo, HID, Verkada). * Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles as they apply to physical security. * Familiarity with Linux environments and system administration. * Certifications such as Openpath Certified Installer, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent.
