What To Expect
The Field Quality Engineering team’s mission is to improve customer experience of Tesla products by reducing field issues in collaboration with other engineering teams.

The Field Quality Team has a special role supporting Giga Berlin and making sure main customer concerns are known and addressed.

We are seeking a multi-faceted Engineer who will be responsible for all aspects of identifying, analyzing, root causing, implementation of countermeasures, and reporting on issues affecting any vehicle sub-assemblies and systems from exterior body fitment to electronics failures.

To be effective, the Field Quality Engineer will need to be familiar with the detailed behavior and customer impact of all Tesla vehicle platforms and the tools and equipment used in their design and manufacture. They will work with other engineering teams to quickly mitigate and implement countermeasures of field issues to improve quality, reliability and durability of the products.

What You'll Do

  • Monitor product field performance, identify trending issues. Prioritize based on severity, occurrence and/or cost of each failure mode for all platforms and factories but specifically for Berlin products
  • Engage and connect with service centers and regional support structures in order to identify failures based on geographical region, climate, customer population, etc. to evaluate customer impact regionally.
  • Apply technical engineering knowledge to drive containment and corrective action implementation into NPI/ production / design / supplier / firmware.
  • Communicate field performance of the engineering system, gather buy-in from engineering peers and leadership on improvement priorities and urgency.
  • Share Lessons Learned from previous field issues; Provide upfront feedback by participating in design reviews to ensure product performance, reliability, and manufacturability issues are identified and risks mitigated. (DFMEAs)
  • Take part in ongoing optimization and regionalization of new and improved products and processes (performance, cost, technology).


  • What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in any engineering disciplines;
  • alternatively automotive/electrical/mechanical experience on a high level
  • Prior applicable hands-on experience desired; preferably in a practical role such as Failure Analysis / Quality / Service in electronics and/or automotive
  • Broad technical background with the ability to work with engineering, manufacturing, service, and suppliers across a wide variety of issues. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are an absolute requirement to establish effective working relationships within Tesla and outside.
  • Exceptional problem solving and Failure Analysis, strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
  • Ability to use tools and business system applications to manage, synthesize, and interpret data.
  • Python and SQL a plus
  • English language skills B2 and higher to confidently work in a professional environment.
