What To Expect
The Field Quality team’s mission is to improve customer experience of Tesla products by reducing field issues. The role is responsible for products such as Powerwall, Megapack and Supercharger and works cross functionally with other engineering and service teams. We are seeking a multi-faceted engineer who will be responsible for all aspects of identifying, analyzing, root causing, implementing countermeasures, and reporting on issues affecting products. To be effective, the Field Quality Engineer will need to be intimately familiar with the detailed behavior of our Energy Products and the tools and equipment used in their design and manufacture. They will work with other engineering teams to quickly mitigate and implement countermeasures of field issues to improve quality, reliability, and durability of the products.
What You'll Do
Monitor products field performance, identify trending issues. Prioritize based on severity, occurrence, and/or cost of each failure modesCoordinate efforts with the Failure Analysis team to identify root-causes of problemsCollaborate with engineering, factory quality and suppliers to drive containment and corrective action implementation into productionCommunicate field performance of the engineering system, gather buy-in from engineering leadership on improvement priorities and urgencyDrive upward design feedback during design reviews by utilizing information on field performance, reliability and factory quality issues (DFMEAs)Participate in continuous improvement activities and take preventive actions
What You'll Bring
Degree in Mechatronic, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experiencePrior applicable experience desired; preferably in a Quality, Failure Analysis or Service in consumer electronics or automotiveThe successful candidate for this position must have a broad technical background with the ability to work with engineering, manufacturing, service, and suppliers across a wide variety of issuesStrong interpersonal and communication skills are an absolute requirement to establish effective working relationships within Tesla and outsideAbility to use tools and business system applications to manage, synthesize, and interpret dataProgramming Languages & Tools: SQL, Python, Minitab, JMP or similar are a strong plusPrevious experience in a manufacturing environment a plus

Expected Compensation
$88,000 - $192,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
