Job Title: Field Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Field Engineer with a degree in Civil Engineering or Geology and ACI certification. The role involves testing samples from job sites including soil, concrete, asphalt, and rebar. You will be responsible for transporting these samples to the lab for further testing, and submitting daily reports to the project manager. Additionally, you will perform inspections on reinforced concrete, structural masonry, spray-applied fireproofing, and roofing.
Responsibilities
* Perform field and laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel.
* Communicate with project managers, engineering technicians, client representatives, and contractor representatives regarding project requirements and testing results.
* Transport material samples with associated documentation to the laboratory for further testing and analysis.
* Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observations in written and digital reports for daily transmittal to the project manager.
* Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas.
* Assist with scheduling and dispatch of technicians to project sites.
* Adhere to strict safety standards.
* Assist higher-level technicians or staff professionals with tasks and perform basic testing and observation duties under close supervision.
* Provide clear documentation of findings and results.
* Communicate information to project managers and discuss data accuracy in preparation for submittal.
* Submit documentation and communicate results as directed by the project manager.
* Take on progressively increased responsibilities and training in work assignments.
* Follow safety rules and practices for all projects.
* Perform pre-task planning prior to executing work.
* Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
* Maintain quality standards on all projects.
Essential Skills
* Civil Engineering degree or Geology degree
* ACI certification
* Experience in soil sampling, concrete testing, and using a nuclear density gauge
* Knowledge of construction materials, environmental science, and construction management
Additional Skills & Qualifications
* Experience in geotechnical engineering and laboratory testing
Work Environment
The work environment includes working outside in various conditions on construction job sites. Safety equipment such as hard hats will be provided. The working hours are from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with potential overtime. A lot of work will be performed individually, with status updates to the project manager before each shift ends. The dress code includes work boots, jeans, and a t-shirt. The company is employee-owned and offers continued safety training and career progression opportunities. The position is based in Moorestown, NJ, with travel to sites in the Philadelphia area, Central PA, State College, and NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
