Field Engineer
Job Summary:
The Field Applications Engineer at Profire Energy reports directly to the Senior Field Applications Manager and plays a critical role in the commissioning, integration, and support of Profire's burner management systems-PF2100, PF2150, PF2200, and PF3100.
This is a field-focused position with frequent travel to customer sites across North America. When not traveling, the role includes remote design collaboration with the Control Systems Engineering team using AutoCAD LT and Microsoft Office tools.
Candidates must be legal to work in the U.S., able to pass a background check, and should live within 25 miles of a major airport to support rapid deployment to client locations with preferred locations being in Utah, Colorado, Texas, Oklahoma, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
Key Responsibilities:
* Commission and support Profire burner management systems in field installations.
* Perform system checks, startup procedures, functional testing, and safety validation.
* Review and interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and control schematics to verify proper system configuration.
* Collaborate with internal teams on design documentation and drawing packages.
* Provide on-site training and technical support to end users and field staff.
* Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and control system issues, including basic PLC logic review.
* Maintain accurate records of commissioning activities and changes made in the field.
* Ensure compliance with all applicable electrical and safety codes.
Required Qualifications:
* Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial automation, commissioning, or field service roles.
* Certified electrician or instrumentation technician.
* Comfortable with basic PLC concepts; hands-on experience is an asset but not the primary focus.
* Strong understanding of burner management systems; Profire product experience preferred.
* Proficient with 480V, 120VAC, and 24VDC electrical systems.
* Familiar with industry standards such as NEC, CEC, NFPA 85/86/87, CSA B149.3, UL 508A, and CSA 22.2 #213.
* Skilled in reading and working from engineering documents, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
* Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours, lift equipment, and work in industrial environments.
* Must reside within 25 miles of a major airport, be bondable, and pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or related discipline.
* Experience using AutoCAD LT for electrical design and field-ready drawings.
* Familiarity with burner commissioning in oil & gas or industrial facilities.
