1️⃣ Who We Are

GMV provides Intelligent Transit Systems to U.S. public transit agencies, offering hardware and software for bus tracking. We enhance efficiency, reliability, and passenger satisfaction through innovative technology like GPS tracking, dispatch communications, and real-time rider information. With around 55 employees (10 in field operations), we operate under a 3,500-person European parent company, combining a small company feel with strong corporate support. Our focus is on long-term partnerships with transit agencies, ensuring continued service and innovation.

We operate fully remotely, with occasional offsites once or twice a year, and maintain physical offices in Downtown LA & Houston. You don’t need to be in either of these locales, but it’s preferred if you are.

3️⃣ We’re hiring for your attitude

We are looking for Field Engineers who take ownership of projects and truly desire to always give the best service and attention to our customers. Your maint tasks in this position will be:

  • Project Ownership & Customer Service: Ensure top-quality service and attention to customers.
  • Bus System Installation & Service: Work with complex hardware systems (touchscreens, passenger counters, routers, etc.).
  • Project Coordination: Oversee engineering and installation from start to finish.
  • Pre-Installation Prep: Define scope, create work packages, and test equipment.
  • On-Site Execution: Survey buses, coordinate approvals, manage techs/subcontractors, and validate installations.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all components meet standards and are fully operational.
  • Post-Installation: Pack and return materials, complete reports, and improve SOPs.
  • Continuous Improvement: Redesign system parts, optimize wiring, and collaborate on system integration.

4️⃣ Heavy travel required (50% of the time)

Our clients run transit buses nationwide (we have 50+ locations), and you will need to coordinate with other departments (Procurement & Production, Field Services, SW Engineering, Product, etc.).

Your job will involve at least 50% travel, so please make sure you like to travel!

5️⃣ Skills that are desired to be successful in the role

  • At least 2-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Possesses strong technical communicational and demonstrable abilities.
  • Understanding of low voltage systems and hands on experience with tools required to test/troubleshoot electrical basics on a transit vehicle.
  • Proficient with basic IT tasks like network configuration, router configuration (Training provided).
  • Experience managing an installation team including 3rd party sub-contractors.
  • Experience with providing and explaining the project deliverable documents including the Scope of work.
  • Experience being the engineering owner for the end-to-end project deploying technical systems.
  • Experience communicating and working with external vendors on finding new engineering solutions or finding information about a troubled component.
  • Electrical, Mechanical Engineering background desired but not mandatory.
  • 2D-CAD experience is a plus.

  • Base salary up to $95,000/year of base salary (according to proven experience)
