Summary

POSITION SUMMARY: The Field Engineer (Environmental) will support the Site Manager and collaborate closely with the Area Environmental Coordinator to ensure the environmental compliance of the construction site in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. This role involves ensuring adherence to critical environmental protocols, including but not limited to the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) measures, awareness of Threatened and Endangered Species, Air Quality Permitting, waste management, and sustainability initiatives during the construction phase of solar projects. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: The Field Engineer (Environmental) will oversee and manage all environmental-related aspects of the project in accordance with applicable environmental laws, regulations, and best practices during the construction phase. Typical responsibilities include: * Manage the project's environmental management system (EMS) to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations. * Compile and track all information required by the contractor as outlined in the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) Compliance Matrix. * Ensure continuous compliance with the SWPPP by overseeing the maintenance, inspection, reporting, and mapping of all Best Management Practices (BMPs) implemented on-site. * Conduct regular environmental compliance inspections, including weekly reports assessing site compliance with environmental requirements, identifying non-compliance areas, and recommending corrective actions. * Document and report on environmental compliance activities, including required regulatory reports to local, state, and federal agencies. * Monitor and ensure adherence to SPCC protocols, including investigating and reporting any spills, accidents, or non-compliance events. * Participate in or lead environmental training sessions for staff and subcontractors as required. Assist the Area Environmental Coordinator and Site Manager with additional environmental tasks as needed. * Additional responsibilities as determined by the Site Manager and Project Manager EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: * Prior experience with stormwater management and training (e.g., StormwaterOne QCIS, CISEC, CESSWI) * HAZWOPER 40-hour or ability to obtain * Must possess a valid driver's license and a clean motor vehicle record (MVR). * Must re-locate to the project site for the duration of each construction project they are assigned to. REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES: * Interpersonal skills - Ability to present information to a small group of employees or sub-contractors. * Effective communication skills (oral, written, listening, presentation) to effectively work with subcontractors and employees * Computer literacy. This does not include knowledge of all software to be used, but the ability to learn to use efficiently the software which is in use. Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio). * Organization skills. Scheduling, planning and prioritization. * Basic general construction knowledge of terminology, crafts, and documents. * Basic understanding of stormwater regulations * Ability to follow safety rules without cutting corners. To understand the intent of safety rules, not blindly adhering to the literal words of the rule.
