Protecnium is an international consulting firm specializing in engineering and technical services in construction. We are currently seeking a Field Civil Engineer for a project in the United States.


Position Details


  • Estimated Duration: 24 months. Upon project completion, we aim to assign the employee to other projects to ensure continuity.
  • Location: Los Angeles/ Santa Clarita, CA, USA.
  • Project: Highway enhancement project involving lane widening, earthworks, and infrastructure improvements.
  • Schedule: 9 hours daily (including 1 hour for lunch).


Position Description


We are looking for a Field Civil Engineer to oversee and manage earthworks operations at our construction site. The role focuses on ensuring the execution of excavation, grading, compaction, and soil stabilization activities in accordance with engineering plans, safety standards, and project timelines, with an emphasis on adaptability and learning in a dynamic international environment.


Responsibilities


  • Supervise and coordinate on-site earthworks activities, including excavation, embankment, trenching, backfilling, and compaction.
  • Review and interpret technical drawings, geotechnical reports, and project specifications related to earthworks.
  • Monitor site conditions to ensure earthworks are executed according to design levels, slopes, and drainage requirements.
  • Conduct quality control tests on soils (e.g., moisture content, density) and oversee third-party testing agencies when applicable.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and implement erosion control and dust suppression measures.
  • Coordinate with surveyors to verify site grading and cut-and-fill volumes.
  • Prepare and maintain daily reports, progress documentation, and records of site activities.
  • Identify and address engineering or construction challenges promptly.
  • Enforce site safety protocols and ensure safe operation of earthmoving equipment.
  • Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to ensure effective communication and progress.


Requirements


  • Degree in Civil Engineering (Bachelor’s or Master’s) or equivalent (Ingeniero de Caminos).
  • 4–6 years of experience in civil projects, preferably in highways.
  • Proficiency in reviewing technical drawings and geotechnical reports.
  • Strong aptitude for learning and ability to work in international environments.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to dynamic project conditions.
