Summary

As a Field Application Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in delivering Boston Dynamics' robotic solutions to our customers, ensuring their seamless integration and operational success. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of activities, including collaborating closely with customers to align system capabilities with their operational needs and designing site-specific solutions. You will travel up to 50% to customer sites and oversee the site-level solution architecture and commissioning of Boston Dynamics robotic systems, ensuring optimal performance and alignment with customer goals. Furthermore, you will implement scalable solutions that cater to both individual integrations and the growth of customer accounts while also managing network infrastructure and configuration for robust system connectivity. Your expertise will also be crucial in monitoring system performance, resolving technical issues through advanced troubleshooting, and providing comprehensive customer training and support. Additionally, you will lead technical projects that enhance integration efficiency, standardize processes, and drive continuous improvement while also supporting the early-stage testing and integration of new Boston Dynamics products. You will proactively gather, systematize, and convey customer feedback to internal teams, champion product enhancements, and steer customer-focused solutions closely, working with product and engineering teams. Throughout your work, you will ensure adherence to industry standards and regulations, develop SOWs and customer success documentation, and deliver comprehensive customer training.

Day-to-day Activities

  • Demonstrate expertise in operating Boston Dynamics products and related systems, including certified partner solutions.
  • Execute customer integrations, validation procedures, and field tests under the guidance of a Senior Technical Enablement Application Engineer.
  • Provide on-site field support for integration customers, with supervision from a Senior Technical Enablement Application Engineer or Integration Project Manager.
  • Conduct field diagnosis and resolve operational issues with effectiveness as they arise.
  • Perform field repairs of FRU (Field-Replaceable Unit) sub-assemblies as needed.
  • Handle issue triage and diagnosis, utilizing product-provided fault and log information as well as command line access to BD robots and payloads and internal tools to analyze and understand issues.
  • Conduct thorough inspections and checkouts of new hardware and RMAs to ensure they meet quality and functional standards before shipment.
  • Perform software checkouts, ensuring systems are up-to-date and fully functional before customer integrations.
  • Assist in creating and updating key technical documents such as Customer Solution Documents, Interface Control Documents, and Integration Scoping Documents under the supervision of senior team members.
  • Support the preparation of project summaries, network and equipment configuration documentation, and other relevant technical project reports for internal use.
  • Provide ongoing support to customers, helping address questions and concerns regarding technical integration and ensuring positive customer engagement throughout the deployment process.
  • Assist in collecting customer feedback and issues to share with product teams for continuous improvement.
  • Deliver foundational training on Boston Dynamics products and associated software to customers and partners, ensuring they understand product capabilities, integrations, and troubleshooting for operational efficiency.

Desired Skills

  • Proficiency in Brazilian Portuguese and English is required for this role.
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Robotics Engineering, or similar
  • Familiarity with Python, C++, Typescript, or Kotlin
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems (Ubuntu)
  • Familiarity with networking protocols and devices (routers, switches, and firewalls)
  • Experience in Field Applications Engineering, Solution Architecture, System Design, or similar
  • Experience working with customers directly delivering technical solutions
  • Ability to plan and execute integrations of Boston Dynamics products at customer sites
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences

Travel

  • Willing to travel 50% of the time
