Fiber Design Supervisor - Telecom FTTH (MDU/MXU Focus)
Location: Must report to the San Antonio, Austin, or Duluth office 3x weekly
We're currently seeking a Fiber Design Supervisor to lead our Multi-Dwelling Unit (MDU) and Multi-Tenant (MXU) design initiatives in the Central Texas (CTX) market-servicing San Antonio, Austin, and surrounding areas.
This leadership role is ideal for someone with strong FTTH design experience, a knack for quality assurance, and a passion for coaching and scaling design teams.
Position Summary:
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee all fiber design deliverables for the CTX market, ensuring quality, accuracy, and consistency before submission.
* Train and mentor new designers on CTX-specific architecture, standards, and expectations.
* Coordinating closely with field surveyors and construction leads to ensure clean project transitions from field data to design.
* Manage and implement design revisions based on feedback from QA/QC teams and regional leadership.
* Develop and manage monthly work plans, delegating tasks and balancing team bandwidth.
* Maintain the design tracking system, including new project intake, file structure setup, status updates, and survey documentation validation.
* Accurately forecast and communicate fiber design delivery timelines across multiple properties and build cycles.
* Monitor local and regional changes that impact telecom fiber design strategy, permitting, and specifications.
* Deliver group training on CTX design methodology, specifications, and Bill of Materials standards updates.
Qualifications:
* 3-5 years of experience in fiber network design, preferably in FTTH and MDU/MXU environments.
* In-depth understanding of inside plant design principles (ISP) and outside plant (OSP) fiber, as well as FTTH architecture.
* Prior experience in a supervisory, lead designer, or mentoring capacity within a telecom or engineering team.
* Strong organizational and quality assurance skills.
* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Skills and Abilities:
* Strong communication and leadership skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office tools and digital project management platforms.
* Experience in MS Vision is preferred
* Detail-oriented, with a systematic approach to tracking and documentation.
* Collaborative, problem-solving mindset.
Physical Requirements:
* Occasional field site visits may be required.
* Must have a valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to reliable transportation.
Compensation and Benefits:
* $28-$38/hour depending on experience and qualifications
