Federal Work Study Coordinator
Department: Human Resources/Federal Work-Study Program
Employment type: Part-time, 25 hours or less
Position Description: The Federal Work-Study Coordinator is responsible for recruiting and managing eligible students, establishing positive relationships with supervisors and businesses, and ensuring effective communication and program management. This role involves coordinating career-focused events, conducting orientations, and providing clear expectations and feedback to students and supervisors. The position requires strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills to successfully manage multiple priorities and support the Federal Work-Study program. This is a grant-funded role and will require funding renewal annually.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Career and Self-Development:
* Skills: Proactively develop personal and professional skills and navigate career opportunities.
* Tasks: Recruit students based on career interests; create and conduct career-focused brown bag lunches; plan the academic year calendar; provide clear expectations regarding the eight NACE competencies.
Communication:
* Skills: Clearly and effectively exchange information with students, supervisors, and partners.
* Tasks: Create and conduct orientations; communicate program expectations and policies; provide feedback to Financial Aid and Career Services Directors; manage job descriptions in CANVAS FWS Portal.
Critical Thinking:
* Skills: Analyze information to make decisions and prioritize actions effectively.
* Tasks: Monitor student performance and program status; establish and uphold department policies; manage multiple competing priorities.
Engagement and Collaboration:
* Skills: Show awareness and understanding of different populations.
* Tasks: Ensure all FWS students understand and follow department policies; interact with various groups respectfully and openly.
Leadership:
* Skills: Inspire and guide students and staff towards achieving program goals.
* Tasks: Recruit and retain excellent supervisors and faculty; build and maintain positive working relationships; serve as a role model in program management.
Professionalism:
* Skills: Maintain effective work habits and act in the interest of the larger community.
* Tasks: Exhibit strong organizational skills; demonstrate a high level of dedication and a positive attitude; ensure timely completion of required documents and tasks.
Teamwork:
* Skills: Build collaborative relationships to achieve common goals.
* Tasks: Work collaboratively with Financial Aid, Human Resources, and community partners; support program administration and development; assist with student needs and program initiatives.
Technology:
* Skills: Use technology to enhance program efficiency and manage tasks.
* Tasks: Maintain job descriptions in CANVAS FWS Portal; utilize Microsoft Office Suite for program-related tasks; leverage technology to support program operations.
Additional Responsibilities:
* Establish and uphold department policies, including dress code and conduct expectations.
* Monitor and provide feedback on student performance.
* Promote new positions and supervise the CANVAS FWS Portal.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

* Experience working with diverse populations and explaining processes.
