Description

The key reposnibilities for the facilities manager for the food manufactuer in Hayward, CA are:

  • Oversee daily maintenance and operation of facility systems including HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, water, compressed air, and wastewater.

  • Develop and manage preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.

  • Coordinate with Production, Quality, and Sanitation teams to support operational readiness and ensure facility compliance with FDA, USDA, GMP, and SQF requirements.

  • Manage vendor and contractor relationships, including contract negotiation, project oversight, and performance evaluation.

  • Lead and develop a team of maintenance technicians and facility staff.

  • Respond to equipment failures and emergencies to minimize operational impact.

  • Maintain documentation and reports for inspections, audits, and regulatory compliance.

  • Drive facility improvement initiatives, energy efficiency projects, and capital upgrades.

  • Ensure all work is performed safely, maintaining OSHA compliance and enforcing site safety policies.

Profile

A Facilities Manager for the food manufactuer in Hayward, CA will have:

  • 5+ years of facilities or maintenance management experience, preferably in food or beverage manufacturing.

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and utility systems.

  • Experience managing capital projects and working with contractors and vendors.

  • Familiarity with food safety standards (GMP, SQF, HACCP).

  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

  • Ability to work flexible hours and respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus.
