Summary

If applying from outside of Canada, you are required to have a current work visa, and residence visa. The backlog with the Canadian government is currently 2 years for a new visa application. Duties: Responsible for all aspects of the operation of their assigned process(es) including start-up, shutdown, product change over, process problem troubleshooting, and meeting production quality requirements. Compound PVC mixing experience, able to modify the recipe to account for changes in materials and environment. Process units including twin screw compounding extruders, compaction and pulverizing equipment and auxiliaries such as solids transferring, feeding and mixing equipment. Follow established procedures and rules for facilitating production. Facilitate all aspects of process development for new and existing products from feasibility testing to process automation in cooperation with the process engineering and production teams. Operate plastic processing equipment including extruders, grinders, packaging lines, mixers and various auxiliary equipment as well as drive a forklift throughout the shift. Perform quality testing in the laboratory of various samples from various plastics processing equipment and perform tests on finished materials. Report findings to their supervisor and take appropriate action to segregate production that fails to meet specification. Perform other general labour and housekeeping duties Machine/Production Operators will be responsible for both mixing and extruding processes as required. Mixing machine operator duties include: Weigh resins, colorants and other chemicals according to formula Place weighed materials in mixing machine and operate machine to blend plastic and other chemicals to a specified consistency or viscosity Monitor operation, regulate material supply and add chemicals and colorants to mixture Operate controls to regulate temperature, speed and other processing conditions Unload mixture into container for further processing Maintain and perform minor repairs on machinery as required Maintain inventory of material and clean working area. Extruding process operator duties include: Set up and operate one or more extruding machines which extrude plastic composites products through a die Change dies on extruding machines according to production line change Troubleshoot, maintain and make minor repairs to equipment Monitor quality of material produced Maintain inventory of material and clean working area. Requirements: · Must possess a grade 12 education or equivalent · Forklift certification or have experience driving a forklift desire · 2-3 years of experience in plastics production using twin screw extruders and knowledge of material handling systems · Experience in setting up, starting up and operating sophisticated equipment. · Experience in troubleshooting and solve simple operating problems. · Ability to take direction and process information quickly. · Ability to stack 25 kilogram bags on pallets · Ability to work in hot and occasionally dusty environment and ability to wear a respirator in areas of the facility properly. · Ability to operate forklift through the shift and operate heavy machinery. · Obtain a satisfactory background check.
