Job Title: Clinical Placement Coordinator
Job Description The Clinical Placement Coordinator plays a vital role in managing clinical placements for Master's Speech Language Pathology graduate students, ensuring their success and adherence to national accreditation standards. This role involves identifying suitable clinical placement sites, maintaining data base of clinical sites and affiliation agreements, mentoring SLP externship supervisors, liaising with the NYC Department of Education on TSSLD matters, and contributing to program reporting for accreditation.
Responsibilities and Duties:
* Identify suitable clinical placement sites for student teaching experiences.
* Oversee the administration of relevant affiliation agreements for each placement site.
* Maintain an updated database of all sites and agreement statuses.
* Keep records of supervising TSSLD teachers, including their speech pathologist state license, ASHA CCC expiration dates, and ensuring compliance with ASHA requirements for supervision.
* Ensure supervisors are familiar with the CALIPSO system and input candidate information as required.
* Collaborate with the Clinic Director and Assistant Director to ensure compliance to CALIPSO reporting requirements.
* Allocate students to qualified supervisors for supervision purposes.
* Actively participate in Communication Sciences Disorders Department meetings and other student-related meetings.
* Develop, maintain, and revise the student TSSLD manual as necessary to align with evolving TSSLD program requirements and address program-specific needs and situations. This includes the creation of new materials, forms, and information to enhance the manual's relevance and comprehensiveness.
* Mentor SLP students through the process of externship placement and prepare them for competitive placements, especially for hard-to-get opportunities.
* Liaise with the Program Director/Chair of the Communication Sciences Disorders Department on issues related to candidate placement.
* Present and prepare workshops on TSSLD requirements and externship placements within early clinical practicum courses
* Participate in all student orientations and present on the support clinical placement coordinator provides to students in the program
* Contribute to program reporting to meet national accreditation standards.
* Serve as the TSSLD coordinator with the NYC Department of Education on all matters pertaining to the graduate program.
* Manage the New York City Scholarship and Incentive Programs and associated meetings.
* Clear graduating students for TSSLD certification in collaboration with the Program Director/Chair.
* Engage in community outreach activities to incentivize more supervisors to work with our students.
This role requires excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of clinical placement processes, and a commitment to fostering students' success in their speech-language pathology careers.
