Department Information
Established in 1990, the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts is a pioneer of liberal arts education and research at the nexus of the technical and human sciences. The academic programs are internationally acclaimed as models for liberal arts education in a technological age. Founded with the principles of its namesake, former Atlanta Mayor Ivan Allen Jr., the College of Liberal Arts believes in the power of transformative urban leadership that is rooted in courage, compassion, and human and social justice. The Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts exemplifies Mayor Allen's legacy through its cross-disciplinary teaching, research, and service. In a research-intensive environment, Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts faculty and students examine a wide range of social and humanistic issues, defining their impact on society, culture, and policy, and exploring solutions in the public interest.
The Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts is composed of Georgia Tech's ROTC units and six schools: Economics; History and Sociology; Literature, Media, and Communication; Modern Languages; Public Policy; and the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs.
Job Summary
Plan, coordinate and implement routine and/or complex Alumni activities. Such programs include maintaining alumni databases, alumni groups and club liaison, awards, volunteerism, on-line services and publications and related communication media.

Responsibilities
Job Duty 1 - Coordinate activities (club meetings, parties, tours, special events, career fairs, reunions, etc.) aimed at promoting good relations with and among alumni
Job Duty 2 - Attend events as required to service and engage prospects for long-term relationship with the Institute
Job Duty 3 - Direct and monitor alumni relations work, including responding to alumni needs and requests
Job Duty 4 - Maintain client relationships to promote ongoing customer satisfaction
Job Duty 5 - Collect and analyze information to be used for reports
Job Duty 6 - Prepare, manage, and monitor annual budgets
Job Duty 7 - Serve on appropriate committees
Job Duty 8 - Perform other related duties as assigned
Responsibilities
The External Relations Specialist (The Director of Alumni relations) will develop and implement strategic initiatives that increase opportunities for alumni to engage with the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts and the colleges schools and units. This position will also establish connections and strengthen relationships with internal and external partners.
Responsibilities will include:
- Liaise with the Alumni Association to increase participation in events and opportunities hosted through their organization, such as 40 Under 40, Student Alumni Association, Homecoming, etc.
- Build relationships with individual alumni, donors, and other members within the community
- Identify opportunities to foster relationships with alumni to encourage active engagement in events and communications
- Represent the college and its units to foster relationships with alumni, community, corporate, and industry partners
- Track, compile, analyze, and report data related to alumni engagement opportunities and initiatives
- Organize social, mentoring, and professional programs and events for alumni to engage with other alumni, students, faculty, and staff in Atlanta and other key cities/markets
- Manage all aspects of alumni engagement initiatives within the defined scope, quality, time, and cost constraints
- Collaborate with alumni affinity groups to connect with the global alumni community
- Facilitate a culture of giving and engagement with graduating students that serves as the foundation for their involvement as alumni
- Partner with the Colleges communications team to develop messaging on various platforms, including social media, newsletters, and other networking platforms
- Partner with the Director of Development to refer potential donor prospects
- Partner with the college's student support and success team to identify engagement opportunities and career pathways for students
- Partner the Associate Dean for Research & Outreach for community and outreach partnerships
Educational Requirements
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, Communications or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Experience
Four to five years of job related experience

$85,000-$95,000
