Summary

This is a back-to-work training position. Do not apply if you are currently employed or a student.


In order to be eligible for the position you must:


  • must be unemployed (registered students are also not eligible to apply)
  • live in Ontario
  • be legally authorized to work in Canada
  • be a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident, Permanent Resident Applicant with preliminary acceptance, or refugee claimant


Meet at least one of the following criteria:


  • have an active employment insurance (EI) claim
  • have an EI benefit period that ended within the past five years
  • have paid employee premiums in at least five of the previous 10 years (where earnings have been at least $2,000 in each of those years)

NOTE: This is a position through the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development. As such, wages paid during this program are uninsurable for EI.

The Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce is a membership organization representing over 700 members drawn from various industry sectors including: manufacturing, agriculture, transportation, finance, and education among others. For nearly 150 years, the Chamber has been the voice of business in Windsor-Essex promoting the needs of our members to all levels of government.


The Chamber is a not-for-profit organization and receives no government funding. A large part of its budget relies on events that help fund its advocacy work for businesses in Windsor and Essex County.


150th Anniversary Celebration Team Member


Windsor Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce is offering an opportunity through the Ontario Job Creation Partnership program.


This is a project-based team position. Under the supervision of the President/CEO, successful candidates will work as a team to successfully orchestrate the 150th Anniversary Celebration for the Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce, aiming to commemorate its rich history, engage the community, showcase local businesses, and leave a lasting positive impact through diverse initiatives such as events, publications, and environmental projects. The project will strengthen community pride, foster economic growth, and enhance the Chamber’s legacy as a vital contributor to Windsor-Essex.


Essential Duties


Working with a committee, you will:


  • assist in executing several large-scale anniversary celebrations.
  • assist with drafting event budgets and identifying revenue sources and related expenses.
  • assist in publishing a commemorative issue of the Chamber’s “Business Briefs” magazine.
  • identify multiple businesses to be featured in a year-long member spotlight promotion.

Skills

  • Strong English proficiency (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Proven administrative proficiency (organization, multitasking, time management)
  • Strong research skills and critical thinking ability.
