JOB OVERVIEW:
Weber County is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Event Manager to join the team at the Golden Spike Event Center. Under the general direction of the Manager of Events, this role is responsible for selling, planning, coordinating, and executing events of all types-from conventions to large-scale public gatherings-while ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and safety regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients from event planning through execution.
Coordinate all event logistics, including setup, security, ticketing, and other operational needs.
Draft, negotiate, and manage fair and compliant contracts in accordance with County policies and procedures.
Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure smooth event execution.
Verify insurance coverage and ensure all contractual requirements are met prior to event dates.
Oversee event operations, including vendors, contractors, RV and stall managers, and other service providers.
Prepare accurate cost estimates and final billings; keep clients informed of changes or additional charges.
Supervise and guide service staff during events; manage Security and Guest Services teams.
Maintain comprehensive and organized event files, including insurance documents, layouts, staffing schedules, and quotes.
Use event management software to create detailed event function sheets.
Work closely with the Operations Manager to resolve issues and assess damage-related costs.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Tourism, Hospitality, or a related field.
Experience: Two to three (2-3) years of related experience in arena, fairgrounds, or other similar public assembly facility, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA):
Knowledge: Considerable knowledge of all administrative and operational procedures, all building policies, safety rules, and fire regulations. Considerable knowledge of organizational principles and physical requirements in trade show, equine events, animal shows, motorsports, conventions, seminars, workshops, meetings, etc. Considerable knowledge of management operational procedures of convention/cultural center and theater facilities. Considerable knowledge of business practices as they pertain to billing and contractual arrangements for tenants of public assembly facilities. Knowledge of basic computer input techniques.
Skills: Computer experience with word processing and spreadsheets (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Publisher) required.
Abilities: Ability to allocate, organize, coordinate, supervise and review the work of employees providing diversified services. Ability to analyze problems and make recommendations for improvement. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, tenants, county and municipal officials, service contractors and the public. Ability to prepare clear, concise and accurate reports. Deadline and detailed oriented.
YOUR SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Must be adaptable to changing work hours depending on scheduled events. Must be willing to work evenings, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays and irregular hours as dictated by event schedule.
