Summary

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: E=Essential Duties Provide individual and small group specialized academic instruction for District students with disabilities E; Present activities that are developmentally appropriate for the students and are specially designed to conform with the student's IEP E; Provide identification, assessment and remediation to district students with special education needs E; Evaluate student academic and social growth; maintain appropriate records; prepare progress reports; communicate with parents/staff about student progress E; Observe and monitor children's behavior and development in their environment E; Coordinate paraprofessionals to work with special needs students within the classroom E; Supervise students in and out of the classroom E; Perform other related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS: * Valid California Special Education teaching credential (moderate/severe) * Other valid California Teaching Credentials for core content instruction as mandated by NCLB. Please Note: The No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001 requires all public school districts to hire "highly qualified" teachers. Albany USD is committed to hiring teachers who meet the NCLB description of highly qualified. * Authorization to work with English Language Learners (such as CLAD Certification) * Legal authorization to work in the U.S. * Ability to work cooperatively with other staff members.
