The Civil estimator will lead preparing estimates and engaging subcontractor bids in furtherance of our goal of acquiring heavy civil projects The Civil estimator will lead preparing estimates and engaging subcontractor bids in furtherance of our goal of acquiring heavy civil projects, i.e. rail/bus/air transportation, water treatment, wastewater treatment plants, and other Civil infrastructure projects. Responsibilities: Read and interpret bid documents through previously-gained knowledge of trade; prepare questions related to bid documents Perform quantity takeoffs Perform self-perform pricing in HCSS Heavy Bid Establish and maintain material supplier contacts; scope, solicit, coordinate, and evaluate potential subcontractor bids; and any other tasks needed in support of the overall goals of the group. Qualifications: Engineering graduate from a 4 year ABET-accredited program preferred 3 to 5 years experience in a civil-related construction field, minimum. Experience in subcontractor solicitation and estimate management. Ability to engage in effective conversations, both in person and via the telephone. MS Office Suite software, especially MS Excel. HCSS Heavy Bid crew estimating software skills, 2 - 4 years a plus Ability to quickly understand and work with additional computer software programs as introduced. Ability to work with minimal oversight. Ability to work within tight deadlines. #LI-LG1
