Mechanic / Equipment Operator Job Description

Overview
The Mechanic / Equipment Operator is responsible for the use, maintenance, and basic repair of all farm-related equipment owned and operated by Arrowhead Vineyards.
This position reports directly to the Vineyard Manager and Ownership.
Responsibilities
● Operate tractors and skid steers in a safe and efficient manner, including connecting to and properly using specialized implements
● Operate grape harvesters in a safe and efficient manner as a cooperative member of a harvesting team
● Routinely clean and perform preventative maintenance on all farm-related equipment, specifically the equipment in use at the moment
● Repair farm-related equipment including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems
● Repair farm-related equipment including welding and the use of a torch
● Assist in the annual repair and maintenance of the entire fleet of farm equipment, including semis, tractors, and implements
● Keep accurate, complete, and timely records related to work performed for compliance as well as internal use
● Application of restricted use pesticides in a safe, efficient, and timely manner, as directed by the Vineyard Manager
● Assist with regular content capture related to this position, including photo and video capture as directed by the Marketing Director
● Assist in ensuring that all team members are working in a safe manner that is consistent with company policy
● Be a positive representative of the company at all times, including in and out of work
Qualifications
● Possess and use an strong analytical mindset, including a common sense approach to problem solving
● Maintain a productive attitude at all times, including under tight deadlines and stressful situations. Must be a team player.
● Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license
● Ability and willingness to promptly and reliably show up to work
● Ability and willingness to work long hours, especially during periods of seasonally high demand
● Ability to repeatedly lift up to 50 lbs.
● Ability to work in physically demanding conditions, including hot and cold weather as well as wet and dirty environments
● Ability to bend, climb, etc. as needed to operate, maintain, and repair equipment
● Ability to obtain a Restricted Use Pesticide Applicators license within 60 days of date of hire
● Must be able to pass a background check, specifically not have a history of theft or violence
● Must provide a minimum of 3 professional references
Compensation
● Starting base pay of $20.00 per hour, with additional consideration for proven advanced knowledge, skills and abilities
● One week of accrued PTO in the first year of employment, prorated from the date of hire.
Two weeks of accrued PTO in the second year of employment.
