Summary

Nouria Energy is a fast-paced, fast-growing retail and wholesale petroleum company operating multiple locations in the Northeast from Maine to Connecticut, and in the Southeast from the Carolina’s to Georgia. We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented and pro-active Environmental Project Manager.

This role is responsible for overseeing emergency environmental response, oversight of all active environmental remediation and planning and waste stream management associated with all capital projects at Nouria’s service station locations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental regulations, remediation, and permitting, along with experience working with regulatory agencies and insurance claims.

Key Responsibilities:

Environmental Compliance & Case Management

  • Oversee outside consultants managing active environmental cases at Nouria’s service station locations.
  • Coordination with Nouria compliance to ensure adherence with federal, state, and local environmental regulations related to underground storage tanks (USTs), fuel systems, and hazardous materials.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Nouria and environmental agencies, consultants, and insurance providers.

Budgeting & Environmental Risk Management

  • Establish annual capital and operating budgets for environmental remediation projects.
  • Track and manage state UST funds and private PLL/UST insurance claims to recover remediation costs.
  • Monitor and control environmental liabilities to minimize financial and legal risks.

Project Oversight & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Plan and manage all environmental activities related to maintenance and capital projects, including:

o Permitting construction and remediation projects.

o Soil and groundwater management to ensure regulatory compliance.

o Coordination with internal teams (Compliance, Construction, Maintenance, and Retail Operations) and third-party stakeholders.

  • Oversee environmental remediation activities, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: B.S Degree in environmental engineering, civil engineering, geology or other environmental related degree.
  • Experience: 10+ years in retail petroleum site remediation, NPDES, SPCC functions.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of UST systems, soil and groundwater remediation, permitting processes, and regulatory compliance.
  • Regulatory Expertise: Knowledge of EPA and state UST Petroleum cleanup regulations, government administered clean up funds and PLL/UST insurance programs.
  • Project & Budget Management: Ability to oversee multiple projects, budgets, and claims.
  • Communication & Leadership: Strong ability to work with cross functional teams, external consultants, and government agencies.

Work Environment:

  • Position based in Worcester, Ma office with travel to service station locations as needed.
  • Collaboration with internal teams, outside consultants/contractors and external regulatory agencies.
