What is this role?

As the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Program Manager for Cirkul, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive EHS programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as internal policies and procedures. This role leads initiatives to create a safe and environmentally responsible workplace, reduces risk, and promotes a culture of continuous safety improvement in manufacturing operations.

What does an average day look like?

  • Driving Results: Develop and manage EHS programs, policies, and culture to comply with OSHA, EPA, company, customer, and other relevant regulations.
    • Maintain safety records, data analysis, and reports; track KPIs to monitor EHS performance.
  • Taking Ownership: Oversee environmental compliance activities including waste management, air and water permitting, recycling programs, and sustainability initiatives. Making Decisions: Conduct risk assessments and safety audits to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
    • Lead incident investigations (in coordination with HR), root cause analyses, and corrective/preventive actions.
    • Manage emergency response planning, including drills and evacuation procedures
  • Cultivating Relationships: Coordinate with cross-functional teams (HR, Facilities, Manufacturing) to integrate EHS standards into business processes. Conduct floor audits(Gemba) to observe behaviors and conditions to drive continuous improvement in safety culture.
  • Instilling Trust: Interface with regulatory agencies and ensure timely reporting of environmental or safety incidents.
    • Stay current on emerging EHS regulations, trends, and technologies.
  • Customer Focus: Deliver safety training and education programs for employees, contractors, and new hires.
What background should you have?

  • 5+ years in EHS roles, preferably in a manufacturing, industrial, or laboratory environment, with at least 2 years in a leadership or program management capacity.
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • CSP, CIH, and/or CHMM certifications preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in EHS management systems and reporting software.
  • Ability to analyze data and trends to drive decision-making.
  • Strong organizational and project management capabilities.
  • Willing to work hard, stay until the job is done, and demonstrate resilience.
