Job Purpose

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager will serve as a subject matter expert in environmental, health, and safety compliance. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining EHS programs to ensure regulatory compliance and operational risk management in a complex facility setting. The ideal candidate will bring leadership experience in managing high-risk processes and driving a proactive safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and monitor EHS control programs to ensure they are effectively executed in a high-risk operational environment
  • Lead processes to identify risks, hazards, and improvement opportunities, and allocate resources for mitigation and continuous improvement
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including communication protocols and recovery strategies
  • Deliver training and awareness programs to promote a strong EHS culture across the organization
  • Prepare for and conduct audits to ensure regulatory and internal compliance
  • Investigate incidents, determine root causes, and collaborate with stakeholders to implement corrective actions
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of hazards and risks, and oversee follow-up actions
  • Provide leadership and development for the EHS team, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and disciplinary actions
  • Act as a strategic partner on the site leadership team, advising on risk management, compliance, and process safety initiatives
  • Perform other related duties as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in an environmental health and safety role in an industrial or operational environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong scientific and mathematical knowledge
  • Confirmed ability to deliver processes effectively to optimize business resources
  • Solid working knowledge of industry practices and standards
  • Two years of supervisory experience
  • Experience leading diverse teams through change
  • Familiarity with state and local EHS regulations.
