This position currently qualifies for a hybrid telework option with routine office and remote workdays. The Environmental Engineer II position, in addition to the review of air  permit applications and the subsequent writing of Title V and PSD permits, supports statewide permit writing and technical research needs including the investigation, collection, and analysis of information for the Division of Air Quality in building a knowledge base of the types of facilities, operations, and sources that have the potential to emit fluorinated organic chemicals (FOCs), PFAS, or other emerging compounds Key Responsibilities:  * Review, confer, and negotiate the terms and conditions contained in an air quality permit. * Investigate, collect, and analyze information related to potential sources of FOCs, PFAS or other emerging contaminant emissions. * Participation in meetings and internal workgroups as necessary. Necessary Special Qualification May require registration as a professional engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
