Summary or Purpose
Perform a variety of environmental tasks to ensure NSB compliance with Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Clean Water Act (CWA), and other state and federal regulations
Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Work with NSB departments to help achieve environmental compliance.
Daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual inspections of NSB tanks, facilities, and other NSB activities.
Assist in the implementation of the compliance measures required by EPA, DEC, and other regulatory agencies.
Help investigate complaints and suspected violations regarding environmental issues, such as illegal dumping.
Assist in the development and submission of annual waste manifest and inventory reports.
Help with the verification of how hazardous chemicals are handled, stored, and disposed of in accordance with regulations.
May include travel to Utqiagvik and off-slope.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Basic knowledge of and passion for keeping the environment clean, fostering a strong environmental ethic within others in the NSB, and promoting strict environmental compliance with DEC and EPA statutes and regulations.
Basic knowledge of data entry and organization.
Basic understanding of inspection techniques, including phone photography, documentation, critical observation skills, and reporting.
Ability to effectively communicate, both written and orally, with staff, industry, and government.
Willingness to learn.
Education, Experience, Certifications And Licenses Required
High school or G.E.D/or a combination of 12 years education and related work experience.
Resources Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) training will be required within 3 months of hire.
Additional environmental training will be provided and required within six months of hire.
Valid Alaska Drivers License that meets North Slope Borough insurance criteria.

This position is NON-Rotational. Housing is NOT provided. Therefore, due to extreme weather conditions in the arctic and for your safety, housing accommodations must be located and pre-arranged by the applicant prior to the start of employment.
