Job Summary:

We’re partnering with a leading consultancy to hire an experienced Enterprise Data Architect based in Naperville, Illinois. This critical role involves defining data strategy and leading the design, implementation, and governance of scalable enterprise data architecture. The ideal candidate will collaborate across business units and technology teams to build robust, future-focused data platforms.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Strategy & Governance: Develop and maintain the enterprise data architecture strategy, establishing governance models and data standards.
  • Platform Design & Implementation: Lead the design and implementation of scalable data platforms, including data lakes, data warehouses, and real-time data pipelines.
  • Data Standards & Best Practices: Define data architecture artifacts, including data models, lineage, and catalogs.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with business units to translate requirements into architectural blueprints.
  • Modernization Initiatives: Guide cloud data migration, data integration, and platform optimization efforts.
  • Data Quality & Management: Implement Master Data Management (MDM), metadata management, and data quality frameworks.
  • Compliance & Security: Ensure adherence to security, privacy, and governance standards across all data systems.
  • Technology Evaluation: Assess and recommend emerging data tools, platforms, and technologies.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance to data engineers, analysts, and IT stakeholders.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience: 10+ years in data architecture and enterprise-level data strategy.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong background in data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical), data warehousing, and distributed data systems.
  • Cloud Platforms: Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Big Data & ETL Tools: Proficiency with big data technologies and ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend).
  • Database Knowledge: Expertise in Snowflake, SQL Server, Oracle, or BigQuery.
  • Data Governance Tools: Familiarity with Collibra, Alation, and data cataloging solutions.
  • BI & Reporting: Experience with BI/reporting tools such as Tableau and Power BI; scripting in SQL or Python.
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Leadership & Communication: Strong communication and leadership skills, with a focus on aligning data initiatives with business goals.
