Role Overview:

  • The Enterprise Architect will be a key figure in designing and planning a highly secure IT landscape for the client's Nuclear IT program.
  • This role will require the architect to focus on the overall structure, alignment, and evolution of the IT ecosystem, ensuring that it meets the highest standards of security, scalability, and efficiency.
  • The architect will play a critical part in developing a forward-thinking, strategic IT vision that supports the organization's business objectives and is aligned with its long-term goals.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Design & Planning for IT Landscape:
  • Lead the creation and planning of a new, secure IT landscape that integrates best practices in business architecture. This will involve thorough assessments of the current state, understanding of business requirements, and future technology needs, including the integration of all core components (security, infrastructure, network, governance, applications, etc.).
  • Collaborative Design Leadership:
  • Work closely with senior leadership, business analysts, and other architects to ensure the IT architecture aligns with the strategic objectives of the client Nuclear program. Facilitate discussions around complex issues, ensuring that solutions meet both technical and business needs.
  • Security Focus:
  • Develop and enforce security standards and architectural guidelines for all IT infrastructure and applications to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. Safeguard sensitive data and protect the IT environment from external and internal threats.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Engage with key stakeholders to understand business needs, technical constraints, and desired outcomes, then translate these into an actionable architectural vision. Communicate the technical roadmap and benefits to a non-technical audience effectively.
  • Technology Strategy & Roadmaps:
  • Define the technology roadmap, outlining key milestones, strategic decisions, and technological evolution over the course of the program. Ensure that the roadmap is dynamic, allowing for flexibility to accommodate evolving business requirements and emerging technologies.
  • Capability Mapping & Planning:
  • Develop and manage capability mapping to help guide business transformation and align IT solutions with business capabilities. Ensure that the organization can leverage its IT infrastructure for maximum efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Standards & Governance:
  • Define architectural standards and guidelines that ensure consistency across the IT ecosystem. Work to ensure that governance frameworks are in place for all IT initiatives, from development through to deployment.
  • Architectural Patterns:
  • Design reusable architectural patterns to drive standardization, reduce complexity, and improve the efficiency of IT systems development and deployment.
 
Desired Education & Qualifications:
  • TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework) Certification:
  • TOGAF certification is required, providing a strong foundation for delivering enterprise-level architecture across complex business environments.
  • Experience in applying TOGAF principles to large-scale IT programs is crucial.
 
Mandatory Experience:
  • Design & Planning of Highly Secure IT Landscape:
  • Proven experience in designing and planning new IT landscapes with a strong focus on security. The candidate should be well-versed in applying business architecture fundamentals to create secure, scalable, and future-proof IT environments.
  • Business Architecture Fundamentals:
  • Deep understanding of business architecture principles and how they translate into IT design and strategy. Strong ability to integrate business needs with technical solutions to ensure a unified and aligned IT ecosystem.
 
Desired Experience:
  • Comprehensive IT Landscape Expertise:
  • Extensive experience in the implementation of a full IT landscape, including:
  • Security: Ensuring robust, multi-layered security protocols are embedded at every level.
  • Network: Designing and optimizing complex network infrastructures to support secure, high-performance applications.
  • Infrastructure: Experience in planning and implementing foundational IT infrastructure, including servers, databases, and storage solutions.
  • Applications: Oversight of applications across all domains, including cloud-based and on-premises solutions, with an emphasis on scalability, security, and integration.
  • Governance: Familiarity with IT governance frameworks, ensuring that security, compliance, and operational standards are met across all projects and systems.

  • Design Principles:
  • Develop guiding principles that define the architectural vision and set the foundation for all subsequent architectural decisions.
  • Architectural Patterns:
  • Define and standardize architectural patterns to reduce complexity, ensure repeatability, and improve the maintainability of IT systems.
  • Architectural Standards:
  • Establish and enforce IT architecture standards that align with best practices, regulatory requirements, and security protocols.
  • Technology Roadmaps:
  • Create and maintain a dynamic technology roadmap that supports the business objectives and outlines the steps needed to evolve the IT ecosystem over time.
  • Capability Mapping/Planning:
  • Map the current and future IT capabilities, ensuring alignment with business needs and identifying areas for development or improvement.
  • Technology Strategy:
  • Develop a comprehensive technology strategy that aligns IT initiatives with broader organizational goals, supporting sustainable growth and continuous improvement.

  • Technical Proficiency:
  • Expertise in enterprise architecture tools and technologies, including cloud platforms, IT infrastructure, security frameworks, and governance practices.
  • Leadership and Communication:
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively manage cross-functional teams and present complex technical ideas to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking:
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and propose effective, innovative solutions that align with business and technical requirements.
  • Stakeholder Management:
  • Proven ability to manage and engage with stakeholders across the organization to ensure alignment and successful delivery of architectural solutions.
