Examples of Duties Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Part time hourly - 10 hours per week, fall & spring semesters Pay: $30/hr. JOB SUMMARY Under the direction of the Dean of Humanities and Global Studies (HGS), the English Language Learner (ELL) + Developmental Center for Reading and Writing (CRW) Professional Consultant is responsible for implementing and delivering tutoring to specific cohorts of students (i.e., English Language Learners, students affiliated with the Office of Specialized Services (OSS), and/or students enrolled in developmental-level reading and writing courses) as scheduled throughout the year. DUTIES: * Facilitate consulting/tutoring sessions for English Language Learners, students affiliated with OSS, and/or students enrolled in developmental-level reading and writing courses. * Manage student appointments, fill out session forms, and attend bi-weekly meetings with the Center for Reading and Writing ELL supervisor. * Work with the CRW professional staff on learning the relevant technical systems and other training. * Work with the Office of Specialized Services (OSS) on student requests for tutoring, as needed. * Report student progress or non-progress to the Dean of HGS and OSS staff, as appropriate. * Serve as a staff presence for student assistants, as needed, while professional staff members are engaged in other duties or off-hours. Qualifications EDUCATION: A Bachelor's degree is required from an accredited college or university in a field related to the area of assignment or equivalent as determined by the appointing authority. A Master's degree is preferred, as well as certification in tutoring and working with English Language Learners, students with disabilities, and/or developmental-level reading and writing students. EXPERIENCE: A minimum of two years of instructional experience working with English Language Learners, students with disabilities, and/or developmental-level reading and writing students at the high school or college level. Excellent technological skills, communication skills and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work in a multicultural environment with diverse populations and have a strong customer service orientation. Ability to work in a busy setting with little supervision. Must be able to juggle, organize, and prioritize multiple tasks and work in a constantly changing environment with regular distractions and interruptions.
