Job Title: Engineering Technician 3

Duration: 12 Months Contract

Location: Sunnyvale, CA

Primary Function of Position

• The Multiport Accessories Engineering team is search for a Senior Mechanical Engineering Technician to support a team of mechanical engineering in product development and supply continuity of our highest volume products. The primary responsibility would be to serve as the engineering lab manager, support product testing, and prototype development.

Essential Job Duties

• The candidate should be comfortable working with minimal supervision, possess strong attention to detail and the ability to manage priorities. In addition, the individual will assist with developing and maintaining a clean and well-organized engineering lab environment that includes robotic instruments, rapid prototype machines, tools, fixtures, prototypes, and supplies.
• A strong sense of integrity, care, and attention to detail is required as well as a commitment to developing products of the highest quality.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Execute engineering level tests and collect data to support design of experiment activities. Including collecting, recording, and reporting test results.
• Maintain warehousing and inventory of materials.
• Assist engineering team with expediting of prototype material, including generating purchase requests and tracking invoices.
• Assisting with early prototype builds, including procurement of material, inspection of materials and subassemblies, rework of components, assembly, troubleshooting, and repair of prototype instruments.
• Independently prioritize activities across multiple projects, coordinating with team members on requirements and deadline for each task.
• Provide input and feedback to the design and manufacturing teams to enhance manufacturability.
• Providing input for protocols and reports for engineering, qualification, and verification studies.
• Assist with creating manufacturing instructions and test methods.
• Assist with developing and building tooling and fixtures in support of testing and assembly.
• Manage lab resources, supplies, and equipment (metrology equipment, manufacturing, and prototyping tools, etc.).
• Manage calibration of test and measurement equipment.
• Other support activities, as necessary.

Skills, Experience, Education, & Training:

• Good communication skills to be able to partner effectively with Design/Mfg Engineers
• Effective use of test and measurement equipment like Instron, Keyence, force gages, micrometers, and custom test platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to build high quality prototypes without detailed process instructions.
• Proficient with basic hand tools (Dremel, Drill, Ultrasonic knife, files, soldering iron)
• Computer skills in Microsoft Office and cloud-based file sharing apps required, Solidworks experience highly desired, and comfortable executing scripts on other computer applications.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully work on multiple projects at once, coordinating directly with stakeholders to ensure on-time task completion.
• Sense of urgency and Multi-tasking is essential to be able to support engineering team effectively.
• Experience with Good Documentation Practices

Education/Experience:

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED. AS or BS degree in engineering technology, trade school, military technical training preferred.
• Minimum 4+ years’ experience
• Medical device experience preferred.
• CAD experience preferred
• Experience with complex electro-mechanical equipment preferred.
• Working Conditions
• Ability to perform repetitive duties while standing/sitting for long periods of time.
• Moving or lifting equipment/product up to 50 lbs. occasionally required.
• Local travel up to 5% may be required.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Proficiency in CAD software and GD&T.
• Experience with ERP systems (Agile, SAP).
• Knowledge of GMP, GDP, and Quality Systems Regulations.
• Proficiency in machine tool use: mill, drill press, etc. desired.
