Job Summary
Supermicro is currently seeking an Engineering Technician to join the Power Solutions Department at our San Jose, HQ to assist in Product development and testing. This individual will work cross-departments assisting Research and Development Engineers and product managers as needed in product development tasks.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Includes the following essential duties and responsibilities (other duties may also be assigned):
- Perform power supply characteristics testing, modification, and computer system testing as instructed
- Responsible for reliability testing procedures for products
- Operate system and power supply testing equipment and oscilloscopes
- Generate test report and record the complete test process, configuration, findings, waveforms, and results
- Modify power supply product as instructed and soldering duties will be involved
- Responsible for product thermal testing as instructed and operate thermal chamber
- Follow PM or engineer’s directions to complete job assignments on schedule
Qualifications
- AA in Engineering or equivalent, BS degree is preferred
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a test technician is strongly desirable
- Basic knowledge of electronic circuits, PC, or server hardware and its operations
- Familiar with Microsoft Office and be able to generate test report
- Knowledge of power supplies operation and testing process is a plus
- Familiar with basic oscilloscope operation and good soldering skill is a plus
- Strong attention to detail, including accuracy and thoroughness
- Solid communications skills both verbal and written
- Basic electronics, digital and components knowledge background
- Able to work independently and be a good team player
Physical Requirements
- Able to sit for long periods of time
- Able to input data into a computer and work with a computer screen for long periods of time
- Occasional bending and standing
- Standing, walking, sitting, talking/listening, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms
- Lift, carry, push and pull up to 15 pounds
Salary Range
$24.00 - $42.00/hr
The salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in bonus and equity award programs.
