We are seeking a talented and experienced Engineering Manager to join our dynamic team.
We manufacture specialized equipment for catalyst handling that is used during maintenance shutdowns in chemical plants. The equipment runs the gamut from large catalyst handling hoppers, screeners, and conveyors to highly specialized portable equipment that automates repetitive tasks in a demanding industrial environment. Manufacturing is done in-house at our facilities in Louisville, KY as well as a network of fabricators and assemblers in the USA, India, and the Middle East.
Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Team Management:
o Recruit, develop, and mentor a high-performance engineering team.
o Foster a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
o Provide guidance on complex engineering challenges, ensuring alignment with
safety, technical, and compliance standards.
Product & Technology Development:
o Oversee product development and value engineering efforts, ensuring alignment with TubeMaster’s technology roadmap and customer needs.
o Manage the full product lifecycle—from concept and prototyping to testing and commercialization.
o Ensure designs meet rigorous operational, environmental, and safety standards required for hazardous industrial environments.
Project Execution & Delivery:
o Oversee engineering project planning, execution, and resource allocation.
o Implement best practices in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), product change management, and new product introduction (NPI).
o Ensure engineering deliverables are on time, within budget, and aligned with strategic business objectives.
Safety, Compliance & Industrial Standards:
o Ensure that TubeMaster’s mechanical and automation designs comply with industry-specific safety, reliability, and regulatory requirements.
o Maintain knowledge of evolving standards in industrial automation, safety-critical systems, and hazardous location equipment.
Direct Engineering Contributions (Initial Phase):
o Serve as lead product design engineer on key projects (~30% of the time), with a
focus on mechanical automation and industrial robotic solutions.
o Transition from direct engineering work to strategic leadership as the team scales.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Business Integration:
o Work closely with Product Management, Business Development, and Operations
to ensure engineering projects align with customer needs and business objectives.
o Provide technical support for sales and customer engagements, including site
visits and demonstrations.
Travel & Field Exposure:
o Travel internationally (~20-30%) to oversee product rollouts, customer site
evaluations, and field support.
o Engage directly with industrial plant environments to ensure real-world
applicability of TubeMaster’s solutions.
Qualifications & Experience
o Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering,
Automation Engineering, or a related field.
o Minimum 7 years in mechanical automation, industrial engineering, or related engineering roles.
o Proven success in leading engineering teams and delivering automation-driven product innovations.
o Experience in designing and developing industrial-grade mechanical and automation systems.
Technical Skills:
o Expertise in mechanical design, automation systems, and safety-critical engineering.
o Proficiency in CAD software (Autodesk, SolidWorks) for mechanical and automation system design.
o Knowledge of PLC programming, robotics, and industrial control systems.
o Familiarity with sensors, actuators, and automation components for industrial applications.
Safety & Compliance:
o Experience working in regulated industrial environments, requiring compliance
with ATEX, NFPA, OSHA, and related safety standards.
o Ability to work in hazardous environments, requiring full PPE, including respirators.
o Must be able to travel internationally; passport required.
